How Often Do You Get It?

Sarcasm? In the forums that is.

It's easy enough to pick up on in real life but how often do you pick up on it in the forums? How much do you use it personally? Does the world need a "this was sarcastic" emoji. Will I ever stop asking questions?

Thank you and good morning

I use this one for comments that are not as serious and\or sarcastic. Am I missing the mark?!

Sarcasm is much harder to pick up on in written form. It’s possibly due to lack of punctuation in a lot of the posts.

Still, it might well be the lowest form of wit, but it still got me to the finals of the World Sarcasm Championship in Santiago Chile in 2017.

surrounded by twinkly lights

I may have a thing for reading things as sarcastic when they actually weren't and my humorous reply wasn't actually funny

I over use it in life and some of my friends like it some don't

I'm a serial sarcastic knob and only people who know me well truely get me. It's always funny to see someone slowly working out on their face if I'm being serious or not before the penny drops.

Sorry about me

Ah see I've always used that one if I'd read something seriously weird. I tend to use this one bit I use that a lot so maybe the sarcastic ones get lost

As mentioned above, it's definitely harder to pick up on when you're reading it in your head without the tone. *Can* you over use sarcasm?

That's the worst bit when you first meet someone. The "are they being sarcastic or do they actually hate me" as well as "can I flirt with them through sarcasm or will they think I hate them?"

All the best people are sarcastic... or have to put up with those who are

I'm probably more irreverent than sarcastic. I think a lot of people can be quite literal and serious on here and not get when someone's joking or being flippant.

*Googles "irreverent"* Ah yes, very good You're right there though, there's far too much seriousness on what's supposed to be a fun place sometimes.

How can we fix it though? I feel like emojis help in the wider world but on Fab your options are a little limited

I'm pretty good at giving and receiving

It does get lost on some people though.

Sarcasm is our everyday communication with each other

Good to know, we should try each other's some time

True, when the blank look falls over their face and you realise you can't use your superpower any more I think K is used to it now but at first I think I shocked her a bit with mine
