Who else can confess to a drastic situation or event which turned out to be not-so-bad after all?

Many years ago, working in a fine art auction house, I put my foot through a £500k Pablo Picasso painting as I was installing a new computer system. I was mortified but they were unfazed.

Much later, suffice to say, the auction house was delighted. (Unsold • Insurance Claim • Happy)

Many moons ago when I drove lorries for a living. I was clearing an old machine shop of some industrial tooling machines, lathes, etc.

I dropped one from a forklift truck and destroyed it into many many pieces. Fearing the worst, the sack, having to replace said machine, i ‘fessed up to the gaffer.

Imagine my relief when he said “oh that old thing we’re scrapping” I could have cried and kissed him.

..

I was attempting ice skating once and a man fell over right in front of me, and for reasons which I will never understand, I decided to attempt to jump over him - all I remember is landing right on top of him and him spread eagled on the ice, winded!

The good news is I didn’t break anything and I was able to skate away, so that ended well

Was that your way of getting acquainted? It's a great ice-breaker!

°

I think I tripped over some poorly-written code.

I reversed a car into someone's wall, knocked it right over. Thinking the worst I knocked on their door and they said "no problem it was coming down next week to have a drive put in"
