and feet.

Can anybody advise me where I can buy socks for very swollen feet and ankles. The ones made for diabetics aren't suitable I need to find much looser and stretchier ones than that.

Please don't post links, thank you

Thank you but I need socks that gently stretch to a wide circumference and won't restrict blood flow. Standard socks just won't do

Most pharmacies or probably even Amazon will stock compression socks or tubigrip.

Foot nurse, pillow paws. I pick hundreds of different types of socks on Amazon. Bamboo socks. Diabetic socks. Surgery socks. Swollen feet socks. I’d look on there.

Are you looking for compression socks without ribbed tops to help with oedema or is it just standard socks?

I don't think I'm looking for compression socks...I don't know. My mum has heart failure, her feet, legs and ankles get very swollen due to fluid retention. Compression doesn't sound like it would be a good thing. It's definitely not standard socks

IOMI footnurse and AJ Hall both do soft socks designed to fit very swollen feet and ankles. I got some from Footnurse that fit my dad even through a very thick layer of bandaging, there was no compression and no pressure on the leg.

Also look at disability suppliers, they do compression socks for wheelchair users.

Also look at flight socks to reduce DVT.

Oh you're right, compression isn't normally recommended for fluid build-up due to heart failure, soft socks are the way to go.

The two I mentioned both provide soft socks in very wide sizes.

I hope you find something suitable.

Her feet are extremely swollen men's socks are no good and bed socks are ok but dangerous when we're helping her move about because they make her feet slippy. I'm on the verge of making some

I have to trust that she's on suitable medication I'm not informed enough to know. She's frequently hospitalised 15 times this year and they adjust her medication each time. Footnurse and Halls seem to be the way to go.

I have Raynaud's phenomenon so I can't stand the bands of socks or anything that restricts blood flow in my legs. The best socks I've found are the really rubbish fluffy socks as they don't have that ribbed band. Not brill with shoes but good with slippers at home.

A specialist cardiac nurse visiting Grandad at home was the way we got his medication sorted. Being admitted to hospital is no guarantee she's seen by a cardiac specialist unfortunately.

Yes she is but she's in the very last stages of heart failure. Fluid on her lungs, swollen abdomen, legs, feet and ankles. Diuretics can only do so much at this stage, it's more about making her as comfortable as possible now.

I don't know what to tell you Bussy. It's not a smooth curve, she'll probably have times when she gets much better and a change in medication often gives a boost. Have you got things like an electric chair (that sounds bad but you know what I mean I hope ) and all the mobility aids etc?
