I like to think it gives people a fairly good sense of my sense of humour and what I am looking and I find that most people who get in touch can see that but there are still lots who don't read it anyway and just look at the pics.

Almost like the opposite of the old Playboy excuse of " I just buy it for the articles"

We’ve found having a detailed profile helps us find the people we want.

I will give anyone a knuckle bump if they can write everything I need to know about them in their profile. They can’t.

And with that in mind, I realised I probably can’t do the same for anyone here.

If someone wants to get to know me, they can talk to me, or just ask.

That's a good point. Verifications are just portraying me through others eyes so you know how real people I have meet see me, not some online bullshit I wrote to impress you. My brain is too fuzzy to show myself off well..

Tbh I wrote mine with relative care and effort (and keep tweaking) mainly on the basis that you just should, and I feel better knowing I’m not being a lazy chancer, but I don’t think it’s made my experience on here better for it, not one person had ever messaged in a way that shows they read to the end

The last time I asked I got told it was too long. The profile, that is. Never had an accusation of anything else being too long.

So after a brief spell away, I came back and wrote anew. Still came out like ‘War And Peace’, but I can’t say what needs saying in any less.

I think it conveys the general idea of what I want. Specifics? Probably not, because….. TL;DR.

I hope I do, but it's impossible to know if it comes across well. If the amount of profile views vs actual contact is to be taken then its a complete failure. I get zero contact on Fab, but do well in person at socials and clubs, but no matter how many rewrites I do the result is the same. Same reason why I no longer bother messaging anyone either.

These days, when it's visible, mine basically says "bugger off I'm not interested"...but in a nice way

I've had various different styles of profile in the past, from long and descriptive to short and sarcastic. And on the whole I've found that it does generally alter the kind of messages that you receive (yes, there will always be a minority that obviously haven't read a single word...even with a hidden profile I still get messages

)

I'm not sure any of them would have told you too much about me though, some I hope would have at least conveyed what I was looking for at the time.

I guess most people are happy with the content of their profiles. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think its more how it's received than how it's meant.

Like many, I'd love some proper feedback on mine, but obviously I know it CAN'T appeal to everyone. There are some right shockers on the site and I'd be happier knowing mine wasn't thought of that way.

Not sure how my profile looks to others and I don't really bother much how people see me there.

That's why its best to attend socials/lifestyle clubs so folks can get to know me and me them. Saves so much time. If reaching out on fab I encourage no expectation coffee/drink meets too, obviously when time is right to propose, to test how serious people on fab are. Most flake out at that point.
