Do you put the heating on? Her ladyship beats me up if I try in this house but she's gone out so I'm in charge. Clicked on at 12°C. I'm fairly sure this is an infringement of my human rights.

I have mine on quite high, it goes on early, I feel the cold easy. My house is the kind of house men would liken to a greehouse and any exertion will have them breaking out in a sweaty mess.

However women will love it and not want to leave. Unless of course they are menopausal and need icy gales blowing through.

Fairly new house, decent loft insulation. No idea about the walls. They were gritting the roads round here last night and the only sources of heat in here are 3 people and 3 computers today.

In the workplace, I think I can remember being told you can refuse to work if the temperature is below 16. My house drops down to 12 during the coldest months. But there was barely any insulation in the loft and we lose loads of heat via the utility room and bathroom extension.

I prefer cooler temperatures but have had the heating on half a dozen times or so, this autumn. It probably gets to 15 °C before I turn it on - I don't have it on an automatic start programme, so I can do it to suit me at the time.

It's a benefit of living alone, to get the heating just right for me

It's currently 0°C here and our central heating is definitely ON. We keep it a reasonably constant 18-19°C although during the day, it's only set to come on at 16°C. We put a jumper on when WFH rather than turning up the heating.
