The Town by The Cross

I used to be mesmerised when I fragmented a computer and watched all the blue , red and green files being put into stacks or deleted until my computer was as organised as an anally retentive's sock draw.......

What do you miss that you have no need to really ?

The whirring, screeching noise of a ZX spectrum game, loading from the tape deck.

You can get lots of different pc based emulators these days but, it’s just not the same.

Dot matrix printers. Noisy as hell but strangely satisfying listening to it printing out all you’ve typed. Till the phone rang and you couldn’t hear the other person down the phone.

Ah, those were the days…..

A MAC eyeshadow called Moth, which they discontinued.

The best crisps I ever did taste, which were pesto flavoured, by a company called Burt’s (I believe they still do other flavours).

I miss physically going to the video shop and being excited to watch our 1 or 2 choices, rather than hours of scouring Netflix then falling asleep half way through whatever you eventually settle on.

East London

Getting into bed on a Sunday evening after a bath and finding freshly washed, stripey, flannelette sheets and pillow cases on my bed.

A feeling I've not been able to replicate.

Sadly not that kind of stiff - though at least I'm not so old that had become something else to miss.

London/Essex... ish... Romford to be exact

I used to enjoy rearranging my bedroom furniture during the school summer holidays. Sometimes I'd do the living room as well.

I also enjoyed going through an Argos or similar catalogue and circling what I'd have in my future home. I'd pick something from every category including treadmill and lawnmower.

Another past passion of my childhood was recording TV shows and films on VHS and then using those sticky labels, being as neat as possible with my best pens and maybe even had more stickers.
