I put spare change in anytime a see a poppy tin, and dont always take a poppy, i have a metal poppy that i wear every year but always have a paper one for other jackets

We always put money in a tin, hubby wears a paper poppy and wife likes her enamel poppy.

I have a plastic poppy that fell off the key-ring...it's now always on my wooden candle stick...I always donate in to the collection pots too. Lets remember all those that gave their lives...so that we could live ours!!

I also have a broach which remembers the Codebreakers, which I think is nice given my line of work and their contribution to it.

I manage to lose mine over the years. Had some lovely crocheted ones which I'm looking to replace . Bought poppy earrings too to fit in with the theme

I’ll always buy a few outright until I’ve got a few for different jackets.

But always a fresh one for my suit on the day. I’ve a regimental one I wear to with my old cap badge.

And always tip the poppy collectors whatever spare change I have when walking past them.

I buy a pin badge, poppy to wear and a little wooden cross to write my late fathers name on as he was standard bearer for Royal British Legion for 30 years or more.

This is partly why don’t wear a poppy, wearing it as part of a theme. And people in general trying to outdo each other with poppyness.

That and the poppy police - people who wear them without knowing the reasons why they are actually doing it ( many on tv with a poppy put on them for nothing but visual effect)

You can remember and be grateful in many other ways, on many other occasions , wearing a poppy or not is a personal choice.

Yes, that was the original purpose of the wearing of the poppy, not for many of the reasons it is now worn! It appears to have been adopted to mean more than this and a symbol which is far removed from its intended purpose.
