Secret hideaway in the pennines

This year definitely hasn't been my best year, I believe the queen used the phrase annus horribilis.

And I am wondering what else can it throw at me.

I have just had to say goodbye to my dad as he enters end of life care, although I has been expected, seeing how fragile and frail he looked, brought me to tears.

For those of you with parents still with you, never take them for granted because one day they will be gone leaving a big hole where your mum or dad should be

I'm so sorry that you are going through this.

I lost my mum 9 years ago and I cared for her at home for her final month.

It's a very painful time.

Sending love your way.

Sorry to hear OP. Know how you feel.. This year is absolutely horrible.

My ex wife's mother passed away in Jan, my mum (who I cared for) passed away overseas and I didn't have a chance to speak with her and more recently a family member committed suicide last week.

Still 2 months of this shitty year left.

One day at a time OP.

Can you just expand on this bit AC...

"I have just had to say goodbye to my dad as he enters end of life care"

Are you not allowed to be with them at the end any more?

I'm only asking as my Mum has a, terminal diagnosis (4 months ish) and I'm not sure how we will cope if we can't be with her at the very end

I don't live near and had to leave as the Macmillan nurse had turned up,it's a 2 hour drive there, so I am on alert as they say, but I was told to get there sooner rather than later.

Sorry to hear that, I lost mine 5 years ago and certainly didn't expect it in my early 30's watching a big strong and switched on bloke fade to nothing and then pass on was a big blow. Expect to do a lot of soul searching and going through a whole load of emotions, even years later. Just take care of yourself and let yourself feel however you feel on any given day while you process it.

mis-types and auto corrects leads cock leeds

Feel your pain op'as we grow older we know that time on this planet is limited for all.. its a terrible feeling knowing that that time is so close.

I took a break from here for a while my old mum needed caring for, I looked after her through those months until the day she passed, I was with her at the end. my abiding memory I couldn't get warm so so cold, I took comfort she was out of pain at last.
