Liverpool

Mathew St is stag and hen central so can be pretty raucous and tacky, which might be what you're looking for of course. Equally, the Adelphi is a lottery - might be fine, might be bloodstained sheets.

The area around Hope St and Hardman St has some great pubs, such as the Philarmonic, Fly on the Loaf, The Pilgrim, The Grapes (not to be confused with the one on Mathew St). Also good boozers around Dale St such as Rigby's and the Ship n Mitre.

The Baltic Triangle is also well-stocked with watering holes provided you can stand the slightly smug hipster vibe

Always best to find someone close to the train station so you can leave ASAP

North West

Do NOT touch the Adelphi with a barge pole! There's plenty of decent hotels on the Albert Dock or dotted round the city centre. The Heeton Concept Hotel, next to James St station is cheap and cheerful but decent. If you just want a bed to stay in, there's a few Travelodge and Holiday Inn type places around the city.

.

Agree steer clear of the Adelphi - absolute dive.

Holiday inn isn’t much better.

There’s lots in the city centre, check out booking.com and the reviews

Stayed in the Aloft with work a few weeks back (not far from the Cavern club). Cool room; funky bean bag, big bench, walk-in shower, huge bed. Definitly worthy of playful encounters.

St Helens

the adelphi Hotel is a dump, it is owned by brittania hotels, it is run down and not very well maintained. please find elsewhere or check out online reviews the liverpool echo first, there is plenty of hotels around albert dock area ranging from budget hotels such as dolby /campanile to hiton ( and the hilton budget hotel/ premier inn / jury's inn /Pullman.

drinking areas there avaoid concert square wood street/ Bold street, can be a bit roudy with wannabees out to prove a point . teh Baltic triangle and cains brewery is also decent area

Southport

Look up the Shankly Hotel. Looks amazing if you're looking to entertain in your room. Some very sexy rooms. Liverpool hotels are not cheap anymore.

Liverpool

I've heard people rave about thw Titanic hotel. I've also heard good things about thw Hilton (of course!) and my friend just stayed at the Hope Street Hotel and that looked fancy as fuck! I've been in the lobby bar of the Radisson Blue and that was gorgeous but I haven't seen the rooms. Totally agree with the others about the Adelphi, it's a legit biohazard .

Under the Duvet

My fave is the Pullman, great rooms.

Hard Days Might has deals occadionally, rooms look great.

If you're in a budget the Travelodge in the Strand is the best out of the city centre ones.
