What was/ is your nickname?

Did you have an unusual nickname when you were younger? Or is there a funny story behind why you are called that? Do you have a friend with a great nickname?

Mine was poodle on account of my dark curly hair

I was called Brad for a number of years during secondary school, because I used to act when I was younger, and once everyone knew I acted with Brad Pitt, they kept call me Brad like i was a celebrity in school. Got quite embarrassing after the day

I was also called Sharp, as in Becky. That one I didn't mind so much.

Pingu: when we went dry slope skiing at school and I would walk up the baby slope, everyone started calling me Pingu.

Sad sack: from the raggy dolls as at school I was always sad lol

And twix fits: apparently I had a confectionery item stuck up my fanny once at school and this was born, I do not remember it and I didn't get pissed until I left school. God knows where it came from lol.

His wee brother got knocked down so he affectionately known as crumbs from that point on

And if you never had a nickname ...?

Would that mean you were too bland either way to be noticed to be given one

Jimmy.

I was always smiling and so was Jimmy Carter when he was in office. Years later a few people continued to call me that if we met on the street as they thought it was my real name.

Not at all, probably just that you were so special and individual that they didn't need to come up with one to differentiate you

...curious ...implying there's some 'warped' psychology to giving out nicknames one way or the other

In my experience, which may be totally wrong, nicknames were given to differentiate between people with the same name or affectionately mocking someone. Not everyone has one, but I don't believe it's a negative reflection on someone who doesn't have one

This is taking out the cruel nicknames kids give each other though. Some of those are brutal and not nice at all
