It’s not that deep

Just got fully involved on a thread where I attacked and was attacked for having differing opinions. Very interesting that forums, be it here or anywhere else online, have these moments whereby people lock horns over such inconsequential matters

It’s not that deep. Why do I care so much for that split second before I post a reply? Quite possibly my most toxic trait of a long list of toxic traits

On a mooch

Everyone has differing opinions on so many matters. Trying to be respectful to how they are presented goes a long way.

However, sometimes people are too passionate about a subject, in their mind what they are saying is right, are blinkered to listen to any other point of view and a discussion can’t take place. Say your bit but know when to walk away, attacking people for their opinion is normally not the right thing to do

I’ve just been brought up to question things. Tone is also very difficult to gauge over text and if an initial message is perceived as attacking then it’s a very difficult uphill battle to get it back on to a tactful track

True tone isn’t always presented or read by others as you might have intended it. Choosing the words used might help with that though, from both sides

I have had that problem too. While I lecture others to not attack people and just focus on debating the matter, I am guilty of doing it myself.

That's because you don't see the real person on internet and it's easy to hate someone without empathising with them in these debates.

I personally wouldn't worry about it I get attacked all the time for having opinions that differ from the forums suck-up narative. I get abusive and hate messages from people I have never interacted with. Because they didn't like my post but never actualy contributed to the thread with. Even had people sending me abusive emails using fake couple profiles to get round filters.

There are two stances, either outside looking in and comment on the issues you see or become part of the problem cos you think it will get you somewhere.

Personally i don't loose any sleep over it, cos in then end in have no interest in point scoring.

I'd rather be disliked for being me, rather than liked for someone I'm not just to score points
