What horror remakes did you find absolutely terrifying?

One that comes to mind for me has to be the remake of The Blob from 1988.

How it eats and dissolves people is very gruesome and there didn't seem to be anyway of stopping it as the more it ate, the bigger it got.

That was a great remake! It was Matt Dillon’s little brother in it as I recall (whatever happened to him?)

John Carpenter’s, The Thing remake probably tops my list.

Another unsung one now though, Tom Savini’s remake of Noght Of The Living Dead from 1990 starring the always superb, Tony Todd.

Ahhh my spelling has gone to pot wifey I meant, Nought Of The Living Dead - the remake details how absolutely no zombies come back to life and is set peacefully in the old farm house as our heroes sing songs whilst warming themselves by the fire

I thought the remake of Night of the Living Dead was really good. They certainly upgraded the character Barbera into a badass in that one.

The haunting prefer the new one.

Piranha 2010

The fog 2005 more true to the story

I agree. It was brilliantly done and the effects during his transformation were pretty grotesque.

Did you known that this remake was produced by Mel Brooks?

I will admit, the remake of Piranha does have some scare factor especially when it came to the main Piranha attack and many of the spring breakers are horrifically devoured.

Not really a horror, but I used to find the 70s remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers quite scary (I was a kid when I saw it).

No remake has ever "scared" me.

The only horror to truly do so was The Exorcist. I watched it in the dark, on my own, when I was 8. After reading that the "true events" were based upon an 8 year old boy.

I had nightmares for months. Now it makes me laugh
