Its international Men's day. Who knew?!

Why aren't we celebrating it like we do international women's day?

I suppose the argument is that it’s men’s day, everyday. Thus, any special markers are likely to go unnoticed. Perhaps rightly.

I do recall a mini campaign to do away with Father’s Day.

Because pretty much every day is men’s day

Men have never been oppressed or had to fight for recognition, so having ‘a day’ to celebrate men is kinda pointless.

I’m sure I’ll get comments and criticism for this post

Do away with Father’s Day? Why?"

Can’t quite remember the exact reasoning, but it was based around the notion that women tend to be the primary carer and men are more likely to be absent.

Over the years I've seen a fair few threads celebrating the beautiful men in our lives on the (actual ) date.

But anyway, yes, I'd agree with the poster above who said that it's men day every day. Men are celebrated in various fields, their achievements don't go unnoticed or unappreciated in quite the same way women's have and still continue to be.

I guess I get the whole women have/are suppressed but in my eyes men should still have a day to be celebrated for what they bring to the table

The idea of International Men’s Day isn’t to celebrate men, it’s to highlight issues like testicular and prostate cancers, which only affect men and trans people who are biologically male, and issues like suicide, which is the leading cause of death in young men.
