Yep, read an article on it a while back. Some people wouldn't have a thigh gap if they were a size 6, and some still have one at size 16 depending on pelvic tilt.

Their purpose is so you can make a heart shaped hole between your legs by not wearing any knickers, stand infront of a window so the light shines through and it can be all romantic. Cant think of any other purpose for it.
