Anyone tried barefoot walking? I’m wanting to try it.. I’d it acceptable, any pros/cons etc? Thanks

I'd only barefoot on sand. I just think it would be painful doing it anywhere else outdoors.

I’ve done it for religious reasons, very freeing and on the right environment feel good, cons..sharp things, will eventually harden your feet up (con if you don’t want that)

The closest I get is in my trail shoes which have no heel lift and are pretty minimal. As soon as I'm in them I automatically switch from running with a heel strike to forefoot strike. If I've done a lot of trail I'll often set off in my road shoes with a forefoot strike until the shoe shape seems to naturally switch my gait back.

I had a friend who was always barefoot, we even went to Italy and he had no shoes except a pair of flip flops as security at the airport told him to wear something

But I wear converse and metcons which are barefoot in the style x

A guy finished the Newport marathon a few mins ahead of me running barefoot. We swapped places a few times through the race and he always looked comfy though slowed a little on some of the rougher tracks. My feet had a few bruised feeling spots by the end with running shoes his must have been really tough.

Funnily enough I hate slugs and snails because of my auntie when I was younger!! I’ve tried converse but just want to feel the soft ground with bare feet on a muddy walk or something.. god knows why!! X

Pros: feet have freedom, they get aerated, It reduces the inflammation within you're body, and I'm sure there are many more.

Cons: they can get cold during winter, they get dirty, you can potentially injure you're feet if you don't pay attention to the ground you're standing on, etc.

Aww your body wants it, that is a good enough reason. I love to do it but are a bit wary about where. Beaches generally fine or on an open grass common, woods I would be hesitant about. Even walking/hobbling over gravel gives your soles a massive tingly buzz when you get back to soft stuff

As soon as I'm home I'm barefoot.

I wonder around the house, the garden, and back and forwards to the car like it.

Also when camping, I'm often barefoot around the campsite. Love the feeling of grass and mud on my feet.

I love to be barefoot and I'm lucky to live on the shore so I can always go and walk on the damp sand.

I do like to be barefoot on grass but there are too many stealth turds and bits of glass round here for it to be feasible, which is a huge shame.

I can hardly walk over a beach with a bit of shingle and anyway I’ve just shaved my legs and painted my toenails so while it’s a nice idea OP, it’s not for me.. I’m out.

I’ve been wearing barefoot friendly shoes for a few years now and my body has adapted back to walking how it was designed to.

If I put a pair of ‘normal’ shoes on now you really notice how wrong they feel !

Being barefoot outdoors is just the best, love it, and regularly go for barefoot walks whatever the weather (actually even better when its wet and muddy!). And the best thing about being naked outdoors is being barefoot at the same time, massively turns me on.

Depends a lot on where you are trying to walk and weather. If it's flat surface and temperate, it's easy and even nice to do it. If not, you are in for a world of pain.

You need to build up slowly with barefoot walking otherwise it can hurt. After a while though its fine, I've done up to about 4 miles barefoot walking outdoors
