So why couldn't we stop watching it?

Why did the western guys sound like their voices were dubbed?

How did they find so many henchmen willing to do anything?

Why do we want their to be a second series?

Isles completely addictive. We keep muttering about how stupid it is. As we continued to watch it all in about 2 days

Part of the "problem" is that 1. The concept is universal but a lot of it (obviously) has more weight within South Korea

Which leads on to 2.

The translation from Korean to both the dub and the subtitles (especially the later) is pretty weak, basic, and in some places inaccurate.

3. Lots of the actors they used as the dub voices are Anime actors, their voices and acting stules are better suited to voicing animation than live action.

4 (finally) Korean and English don't particularly combine well when it comes to sounds and mouth movements. Which can make it even more jarring than other languages.

That makes sense with the dub voices actually. I just thought it was overacting but it does sound like anime

London/Essex... ish... Romford to be exact

It's nothing original I thought having already seen the likes of Battle Royale, Cube, Maze Runner, Alice in Borderland etc. Even the Saw films share some similarities. I too though binged through the series even though I had watched it before the hype had gained momentum. I guess it is an easy watch and it is the type of story where you want to know WHY it is happening which is revealed only at the end which I found wholly unsatisfactory.

I guess people may have watched it for the same reason. Maybe they enjoyed it far more than me. But the reason why so many people decided to watch it is probably because it has gone viral and provides a group talking point. I googled the show a couple of times to find out about the English dubbing and one of the actors. Since then I have received an inordinate amount of Squid Game articles on my Google feed.

They were all found living in the remains of a volcano lair in the Sea of Japan

I've got one more episode left to watch and it is not what I expected at all.

I'm fascinated by it although I'm finding it quite distressing in parts

High Wycombe

I thought it was really good. After the shock of the first game, the following ones really build on the tension and rely less on the visceral imagery. Episode six is incredible.

As for who the guards are. There's the theory that when playing the game at the train station, if you pick to play as red instead of blue you become a guard rather than a player as those are the two colours of them both. Although you don't stand a chance to win the jackpot, you get to earn money paying off your debt.

You have to watch it with subtitles though.
