I am very open about about my dislike for changing things about well established characters for the sake of changing things. But if you give me a well written character in a well written story, I don't care who or what they are, or what their lifestyle is, I will be invested in them and what is happening. | |||

The two are usually mutually exclusive. If you look at Marvel and what they’ve done with Wiccan and Hulkling, that is how to do representation well. I understand that these characters were created when cis het white male was the default for all superheroes and they’re trying desperately to appeal to new readers in order to stay relevant but I’m not sure that this is the way to do it. The smaller comic houses are doing it far far better, that’s where my money tends to go " But... sometimes men get married to hide, and only years later do they feel able to "admit" their true sexuality.
