Worse before it gets better

On this day I have been thinking of my mental journey and my attempts to improve it. I appreciate that this is an individual journey and what works for one may not work for others.

As I wait for the next professional help step on mine there is a slight concern that things may get worse before they get better, especially depending on how much digging they do and what areas they dig into. If that is the case I can just hope the end justifies the means and it's worth the pain and what if any changes it makes in me.

It's so hard I got help of a few people did nothing to help

Problem was I new the problem and how to resolve it , but not brave enough to do it

Having been there. Yes it does get worse but the therapist helps you through it. Eventually it gets better, as do your coping mechanisms. Big hugs to you. X

Sometimes there’s things you’ve locked away subconsciously. It’s great that you’re getting help and support. Even if there are more dips ahead you know there’s light at the end of the tunnel and hopefully you’ll have coping mechanisms to help you. Having friends to make sure you’re ok is also good. I still message friends who I know are struggling. They may not always respond but at least they know someone is looking out for them.

Fixing things with your mental health is a difficult, long but incredibly brave thing. The raking up things you mention, is for me, one of the hardest parts but integral to it all. You're facing it head on and not burying it. It will teach you how to deal with it and move on as well as arm yourself for the future. I hope it works for you, I would come out of some sessions feeling terrible and question the purpose, but even though it is an on going process, it's working. Take it day to day and try to keep faith in yourself and what you are doing. Remember also, you are the main beneficiary of it but those that surround you and are closest to you will also benefit, along with the relationship you share with them.

As daunting as appears sometimes the only way out is through. I think you have already done the hardest thing by recognising you need help. Good luck OP and remember Rome wasn't built in a day x

I think you are approaching this with a good mindset OP.. I think too many people expect instant fixes.. Or only superficially scratch the surface and then wonder why it's not successful long term

As a person that suffers from depression and have had counselling and other forms of therapy, I can say it is hard work. But the results can be life changing.

In the past I have been lucky in having a good friend to talk and rant too, so if you can find one to help you, I would grab the offer.

Slightly scared of the waiting time but also of starting the process

Am fortunate have some close friends to back me up

Best wishes OP. You are clearly a brave person with good self awareness. That will help a lot, imo.
