Hi guys, I don't have anybody to ask so I'm asking here. I'm struggling with my hair rapidly thinning out. I think it's my medication that I take so there's nothing I can do about it. I'm only 35 and usually take pride in my hair. What age were you when you finally took the plunge and took it all off? I'm struggling with the idea of having no hair on top so I'm looking for support from guys that have struggled with it in the past

I was around 21 when mine started to go, and I had the full on long blonde tart's hair. The fact is you either have to accept it or visit one of these regain studio places.

It's tough but the worst thing you can do is cover it up. People don't care if you're bald, but you will be ridiculed for trying to hide it.

And there has never been a better time to be a baldie, some women love it, you save loads on hairdressers, and you never have to worry about what hair style to have.

Shave it all off and see how you feel.

Once it’s gone it’s gone, from what I’ve seen or heard the only way to claw back some folicals is implants

Shave it off, repeat process when required and live with it

You stand as much chance with the ladies, especially on fab, with or without hair

According to QI, the only thing that can help is castration as the hair loss is related to testosterone.

I was thinning as a teenager. I ended up going really short in my late 20s. One big advantage is I can cut my own hair with a trimmer so I save all that money on hair cuts. Luke

There’s nothing you can do and unless you have thousands for hair plugs, anything you try will just look ridiculous.

If you’re going thin, the best thing is to embrace it, go short and rock the look.

I started about ten years ago.

If you’re worried about how others see you, then don’t. Owning yourself is a large part of body confidence and sexiness.

Alopecia-Nervosa and it all went in clumps and never grew back.

Tried to save it and used some medication but soon gave up and I’ve been shaving my head every week since mid 20’s

Just go with it and you’ll stop worrying about your hair.

Embrace the shaved look. If I need to cover up then I rock a flat cap or beanie.

There’s not much you can do to change it unless you spend thousands. The ads that look too good to be true will just waste your money.

Be happy with you, that’s the best way.

Last week a colleague said I had a comb over

and started calling me Jack Charlton (terrible abuse at work

) so it’s gone now. I have some hair up top, just not enough to comb over anymore

I lost my hair at 21 (genetics) whem girls were only interested in guys who had hair like Simon LeBon.

I never let it bother me and after a while I grew up and and was confident in who i was and if others wanted full hair good luck to them. It hasn't caused me any issues and now cropped hair is in fashion

My advice care not what others think as they are not worth the time or effort. Be one with yourself and your thinning hair embrace life and be confident in yourself. That will serve you better than any amount of mop top

Not male... But vitamin deficiency had that effect on my hair. Folate/folic acid is good for hair growth.

Seeing as it’s mental health awareness day, from a fellow bald guy I’ll share my experience…I was around 20 when I noticed my thick hair was disappearing…tried wearing hats, lots of them all types…started cutting my own hair…stopping and standing under places the wind wouldn’t catch me when walking down the road, that gust of wind attacking what little hair I had left…by the age of 25 I decided…”FUCK IT”… No more HATS,NO more running away from the wind…I got the shears and trimmed it all off…. Freedom is what I felt that day…Yes I do have hang ups about the loss of my hair but really and truly it is just hair… I’ve heard all the bald jokes like Phil Mitchell, uncle fester… or ohh your head is quite shiny… or that shock/surprise on peoples faces when you take your hat off, they say ohh you don’t have hair…I do like responding by saying do you know what would be under your hat if you wore one and took it off?…Yeah a giant prick!

… I have found peace with being bald and accept it 100%, to be honest if somebody offered me a magic wand for it to all appear again, I would say no ….as I wouldn’t know what the fuck to do with it, haven’t had any for 7 years now. Be strong, your not alone and what ever path you choose to take, do it for yourself and not others. Much love and respect for your post.

Check out Baldcafe on YouTube, it's a great place to allow you to come to terms, or at least give you things to think about.

So many stories of guys that have struggled, then finally going that step and taking control by shaving it themselves.

I am beginning to thin (well have been slowly for a few years now) and know eventually I may get to the stage of having to make the decision - family genes are against me. Have tried medications and have side effects to them so stopped that route. Hair transplant don't appeal to me so not even considering that.

Baldcafe has certainly helped with concerns I've had.

I started losing my hair late 30's/early 40's. At the age of 44 I bic'd it all off and have never looked back. In fact I prefer it if anything.

Just for the record I have seen life form both sides as it were. When I was in my early twenties I played in bands and my hair was so long that when wet I could sit on it. Did I like having long hair? Sure. Do I miss it? No.

Yep, 35 was about the same age for me I had to accept it was leaving me for good. The jibes from my peers and my father (full head of hair so skipped a generation) didn't help, and it was depressing at the time. But embrace it, like others have said OP, just buy yourself some quality clippers and whip it off once a fortnight to around 3mm. You'll never miss it after a while

Choosing to shave your hair off is totally different, from having to decide whether to shave it off due to loss of hair. The anxiety and effect on personal well being is completely different, something which you can clearly not relate to. Not trying to cause a storm. Just an attempt to educate a fraudulent BALDY

My hair stopped growing when I was 17. So I've always had this downy 'skinhead' since then - hence my nickname!

I shave the fluff off maybe once a week and job's-a-gud-un.

I understand people getting wigs, toupes, transplants, treatments and they must do as they see fit but to me it was never an issue. The story of Samson and Delilah was a parable... not a reality!

I agree. It is the lack of control and the fact that if you do it before you are ready to do it, then want to grow it back you are hit with the stark fact that it ain't ever going to grow back full.

Mine is thin now and I struggle with the same thoughts you do. Two of my mates who are twins went for transpant at same time and the results are absolutely phenomenal in person it’s worth considering if it bothers you I’m hoping to go end of year once remaining jobs are rattled off haha

Yeah but it costs a small fortune and it isn't as long lasting as they make out and it leaves dimples all over your head when the hair finally falls out

There is Nothing worse than thinning hair. The more you try and dress it up the worse the situation gets.

I decided to take it off at 32 years old and I've never looked back.

It gets some getting use to during the first few days but you get used to it.

You save so much time and money. Not all women like the bald or shaven head look but fuck it. You can't win them all.

I was mid thirties when I noticed, went to the Drs, he suggested regaine (minoxydil) no difference, went back to see the GP he suggested there were other drugs that were more effective they came with side affects one of which might be a failure to get or maintain an erection, end of discussion and a few years later yep years when I was ready I clipped my hair to No.2.. some guys say to move razor it off, I'm happy at No.2 . Find what you're happy with, might be a clean shave or clipped,.

Don’t worry about it, after a while your find a new type of confidence…a new you in a sense…just be prepared for the Phil Mitchell jokes…god they are so boring, be prepared also as the ladies do love a rub or two

Winston started losing his early 30's.

His monthly treat, apart from me, is a trip to the barbers for a wet shave, cut throat razor, face and head.

So smooth afterwards.

I can't imagine him with hair.
