Pole dancing

Does any girl here (or boy?) here does pole dancing? I have seen some taking lessons and it looks fucking amazing when done right, like it is so mesmerising and I bet you need a lot of core strength so it looks like a good work out.

Has anyone taken any lessons? How did you find it? Was it rewarding?

At the moment I’m only doing yoga as my way to be fit ( a few times a week so maybe I do 3-3.5 hours of it)

And I’d like to add something more danc-y and dynamic

I did it few years ago. Was amazing and you ( over time) get so strong from it I was able to at one point go upside down and hold on with just my legs, Was amazing. But I had to stop as I couldn't afford it after a while but I do want to start it back up maybe next year.

I've been doing pole for just over a year (give or take the few months we were in lockdown where I barely practised even though I bought a pole for home ).

I won't lie, it's hard work and a lot of the moves hurt. I'm permanently covered in bruises and seem to be working on the same moves as I was 3 weeks in because they're still not right. (Your results might vary with this. I'm a lot heavier than everyone else I go to class with, so it takes me a lot more muscle to hold myself up).

It is a lot of fun though and so rewarding when you finally get a move that you've been working on for AGES!

Thanks for this!!! It’s always encouraging to see how anyone could do it and you don’t have to be 5’ and weigh 45 kg to do pole dancing.

I heard that you can be covered in bruised and everything, I’m sure tho it’s super rewarding when the routine starts coming together

It was so hard! Especially the lifts. The place I went did conditioning poke class too, as well as flow. So work on upper body strength and flexibility! Even though it’s hard always filed with giggles... honestly just go for it and have fun I wish I could find someone local here to do it with!

I tried it in the sulmer. Much to my dismay it is much, much more difficult than it looks. And back then I was reasonably fit with very strong arms!

The deal breaker for me was the bruises on my legs. I love my legs- love the shape, skin tone, etc. BUT, despite exercising and drinking lots of water etc, I am finding it difficult to retain their smoothness and muscle tone as easily as I did in the past. So intentionally adding bruises to that was a no go for me.

But ut is lots of fun, and with everything, with practice the reward will come!

I'm a pole dancer and it's amazing. Not only is it fun and good for your body, it's a fantastic community too where you get so much support.

I'd encourage anyone who fancies it to find a beginners pole class and give it a go. No need to feel worried or embarrassed about your body- you will be welcome and encouraged. Stick at it for a few months and you will be amazed at what you can achieve.

Happy to answer any specific questions via PM.

Happy poling!

Had a good laugh with one of the staff at Chams in Darlaston trying to show me moves. He was brilliant, I was hopeless. It requires an insane amount of strength - or at least a high strength/weight ratio.

You're welcome. Go with no expectations except to have fun and don't give up when it gets hard! It is 100% worth sticking at. Pole dancing is for all bodies, you don't need to be strong or a certain size to start, and you'll gain so much.

Let me know how you get on!

Something I've been saying for years I wanna do.

However, I've not got the motivation. I'm struggling with my weight at the mo, not enough to do anything about it other than comfort eat, make it worse and hate the body I'm looking at in the mirror.

I keep saying "when I get back to being the size I was when I was happy with my weight" but the rate I'm going, that day ain't coming anytime in the next few years!

Please try to go despite of your current body struggles. Even if you can't do a single thing for a few lessons I guarantee you will still come away feeling better, and then all of a sudden you'll find you're focusing on what your body can do that what it looks like, and you'll gain a ton of self appreciation. Give me a shout if you want help finding a studio to go to.

I do pole semi regular, my bessie mate she teaches pole and has asked me to come along lots of times, normally the only guy there but it encourages others to bring their partners.

Lots of core strength needed and be prepared to be covered in bruises. Especially at the start. I've moved into Calisthenics as a result of doing pole.

I've been doing pole on and off for a few years, and started going regularly in September 2019. As Covid-19 stopped play, I've only done a handful of lessons since then, but have been doing aerial hoop lessons since April, and have been doing aerial silks for a month or two.

And Added those to fireman spin, faint, step around and some floor work.

Really does make you feel so sexy as well "

Mmm, congrats! And if you feel like sharing your routine with a very appreciative audience....

Yes the Poles are quite good dancers, better than the Latvians but not as good as the Greeks

Put together a routine! Done front hook to back hook and seat (that position takes so much muscle strength tho) today.

"I won a pole dancing competition whilst pished against some very sexy women. Drink seemed to remove the fear of spinning around upside down.

did u make sure you tip toed and sticker ur bum out nicely? X "

I just copied everything the women done but better and more dangerous. I was very very d*unk so my opinion on that is purely based on winning via the other club goers votes and cheers.

I started getting my bruises myself especially shins and back legs x

I usually am pretty okay but it might be because I do a lot of core work and stuff with yoga so it feels a bit tiring/sore the next day but nothing too major.

Im loving it tho and I also kinda wish I started a long time ago x

Do you follow any Pole dancers on insta? I’ve started looking at some and they are such amazing girls!

I did some pole dancing on honeymoon. I went spinning round the pole then went flying off to one side and knocked Mr right off his barstool. We were both in pieces on the floor and some OAP's came over to help us up. Slightly embarrassing.
