What is the most pian that you've ever experienced?!

Were you able to find any relief from it? If so what worked for you?

I once suffered so badly from a pain that started from under my left shoulder blade...it kind of travelled down my arm, resulting in like a pins and needles in my fingers and of loss of strength in that hand.

Apart from co-codamol which didn't entirely kill the pain, after several swim sessions that began to ease it.

In my defence I had bad births and they both ended up as emergencies. Was advised not to have anymore.

Dislocated my elbow and my arm was just hanging off after I got ankle tapped playing rugby. That hurt a lot but what really hurt was driving 4 hours to the closest hospital (I was living in rural Ireland) only to be told it was too severe and we had to go another two hours away so I could finally get it set. That sucked. Oh and my knee tattoo hurt a fair bit as well!

Dislocating my ankle.

Actually, it wasn’t the dislocation as I didn’t realise what I had done straight away and tried to stand up…but when it was being moved and manipulated back in to place. I would’ve happily chopped my own leg off to stop the pain.

I'm suffering the same symptoms you had.

A trapped nerve in my arm that gives me the same pins and needles and numbness in my hand.

Glad to hear you got some relief from swimming.

Something i will try to relieve it.

It's when the fallopian tube twists and cuts off the blood supply to the ovary. It's fairly quickly fatal without surgery.

I am sorry to see that you are suffering so from this. It really was so painful and for weeks! It really wore me down, there was just no end in sight.

The first few swim sessions seemed to aggravate it, but I was so desperate at that point I kept at it.... It worked for me.

Being launched from a horse and landing on my back coccyx was pretty bad.

As for coping, it was pretty much just a case of throwing a lot of strong painkillers down my neck a few times a day for a few weeks

I had a friend who had an ectopic pregnancy and I had never seen someone in so much pain...Reading this reminded me of that, which was many moons ago.

I dislocated my shoulder.. that itself wasn’t excruciating, it was getting it back in. No describing that pain.

I’ve got a condition that literally fuses my bones together so sitting and resting only adds fuel to the fire.. every movement stops my body from having that opportunity so just general every day is painful! Think I have a pretty high pain threshold because of that..

..but the shoulder.. fuck me.

La la land

Ectopic pregnancy that ruptured and internal bleeding that followed. Felt like being stabbed constantly, was on morphine which dulled it but didn't stop it. I've been run over by a car and several other painful injuries but this was in a league of its own.

I'd say contractions during labour. I've never felt anything like that as it was all in my back and I thought I was going to die from the pain.

I broke my elbow when I was young and that was quite painful too as the hospital completely fucked up and gave me nerve damage when trying to fix it.

Manual removal of the placenta after our second was born. Had to be done so I didn't bleed to death. The consultant had his hand in my uterus to stop the bleeding. I only had gas n air as there wasn't enough time for anything else.

That is etched in my mind forever.

having an endoscopy done many years ago,,, the camera went it from the bottom and the prat doing it for 20 mins didnt know the difference between left and right or up and down,,, it felt like a load of tiny aliens trying to get out of my stomach,,,

Once I would have said Kidney stones. They had me climbing the walls with the pain.

Now a days I would say chronic nerve pain is the worst pain I have ever had. It strikes when it wants, varies from stabby to burning and no amount of pain telief takes the edge off.

My daughter stabbed me in the cornea with her fingernail when reaching for a cuddle. Excruciating doesn't even cover it. Like being stabbed with a red hot poker, then every time you blink it pulls it up again and hurts again. Or keep the eye closed and it hurts all the time.

A few days later in the middle of the night I tried to open my eyes when my baby woke up and it pulled the wound back open. Despite hospital and optician visits and putting in eyedrops it kept happening most nights. Had to keep painkillers in the bedroom. Then 6 months later it got infected. I would rather go through childbirth again then relive that. Worst night of my life, screaming into my pillow waiting for morning and my emergency appointment at the eye infirmary.

I now have scarring on my cornea, but luckily this has no effect on my already poor eyesight. Oh and 3 years on it still hurts occasionally when my eyes dry out.

Turns out the cornea has the most nerve fibres of anywhere in the body so can cause serious pain if damaged.

Gallbladder for me even though I gave birth naturally. When it started, every night there was no relief from the pain running across your back, down your spine to the hips, plus the feeling of wanting to throw up, a few times it was so bad I blacked out. Surgery was the only relief and I was lucky only had to wait two months.

An attack of gout in my knee. I'm no stranger to gout and if you've never experienced it you don't want too. But the worst hit my knee a couple of years ago. It's absolutely excruciating pain and unrelentless. The slightest movement or weight on it causes even worse pain. And you can't even get to sleep as the pain is worse at night. It was the sort of pain that breaks you down emotionally too.

No idea, I don’t drink and gave up smoking years ago which they were saying would be the two big reasons for it normally.

Prolapsed disc (far lateral) with significant nerve root compression. Was unable to take any pain relief because I was in the third trimester of pregnancy and nothing other than paracetamol was recommended. It was pointless so I just suffered instead. I have chronic pain due to my back issues and pelvic nerve injury (also pregnancy related) so I'm used to it now. I take pregabalin daily for the nerve pain but it doesn't get rid of everything. As I type this, it feels like my left foot is on fire and I have sharp, stabbing pains in my big toe. This is normal now.

Childbirth - that I managed with no pain relief x2.

A weird one when I was carrying a mate on my back as part of an exercise drill.

I ran forward but put my left foot down awkwardly; the best description I can give is imagine leaning your body forward, lifting your left leg up a little but keeping it completely straight and then tipping forward onto that leg with running momentum plus the combined body weight if you and the person you’re carrying.

It felt like someone had grabbed either end of my femur and squeezed it like an accordion.

It was the most unusual but intense pain I’ve ever felt and the only one ever that’s made me go light-headed and near to passing out.

Jeez..I can't imagine going through that much pain, and for pain to be ongoing and on a daily basis! Tbh you're a stronger woman than I, for I only suffered for a short while in comparison and that was ENOUGH! You are involved in sport and work...hats off to you.

The first relocation was bearable, but when they xrayed it after and the Dr announced that "it looked pretty good but I think I could relocate it better" I actually cried.

I'd have said give me drugs, but I give birth very quickly and only had gas and air.

I remember saying, this gas isn't working, as when I sucked it started 'quacking'! They said I was sucking too hard

One more vote for coccyx, lost control off piste on a snowboard, managed to pick out the one single rock in a mass of powder and smash my arse on it; couldn't breathe for well over a minute (literally couldn't draw breath).

Worst part of it was, I was directly under a chair lift with everone going over, either asking if I was OK or just plain laughing!

I've given birth to twins but I'd say that the worst pain was falling down the stairs into a wall. Broke my shoulder one day after I'd returned from maternity leave for aforementioned twins!

I did my coccyx when I was about 7. I fell down marble steps at Blackpool Tower and landed on my coccyx. No-one believed me about how much pain it caused and I was just picked up and told to stop crying

My worst pain was bulging disc in my c7 and c6. The pain was down the whole of my left arm. It was none stop pain for 4 months. I can only describe it as a poisonous pain. Nothing whatsoever eased the pain. Tried codeine and pregablin amongst other powerful pain killers. Surgery would have been my last option but after weeks of physio, the pain subsided and eventually disappeared. However, the hospital tip of my index finger is still numb. I found a supplement called Boswellia serrata which really helpe and take it to this day. Look it up. There are countless clinical studies regarding its anti inflammatory benefits.

Apart from co-codamol which didn't entirely kill the pain, after several swim sessions that began to ease it.

Exactly this for me as well only my right shoulder blade /arm.

I overstretched and crushed the nerve, arm went numb and the pain was off the charts. That was nearly 4 years ago next month, I had paracetamol, codeine, ibuprofen and oramorph and all it did was make me feel sick, didn't touch the pain. Still have odd pains and numbness now,worse in cold weather.

Me too. It worsened after giving birth 3 times in less than 5 years. Not many options unfortunately.

In labour with daughter. 3 day slow labour and when thins kicked in she wouldn’t budge.

Forceps with no epidural. Only way to describe the feeling is that she was ripped from me. Hell on earth tbh

Exactly this, even the disgusting taste of the oramorph didn’t distract from the pain.

I used to fill the little syringe with morphine and try and fire it straight down the back of my throat so as not to taste it.

Acupuncture helps but it’s expensive so I’ve had to stop going.

Sciatica... Pure fucking evil... And got me addicted to painkillers... They didn't even kill the pain, just made it more bearable... Gallstones were a close second, with childbirth third... Mostly because it was an on n off thing... No breaks with the other 2

Post gender reassignment when I had a large area of infection and I’d also had a lot of liposuction where the surgeon has said she’d ‘gone hard’ on me. I couldn’t wear compression because of my infection. Felt exactly like it was: like I’d been filleted and my flesh wasn’t attached. Burns. Lots.

My stitching was tearing open. Gank was constantly coming out and it stank.

Either that or when my glaucoma triggers really high pressure in my eyes. That’s like having a knife pushed through your eyes.

Removal was fairly easy in comparison actually so try not to worry.

Yes, I have been to them, and am closely monitored by my GP, which is amazing. I have also had meetings with the specialist, where he gave a talk on the neurological side of my condition it was fascinating

I had 2 drains in my leg/groin and the pain of them sitting inside me was awful. Made me feel sick.

When they were removed it was like instant relief.

Earache. It was horrendous and worse than childbirth. I needed hospital treatment 3 times and the whole of the left side of my face swelled up, I was barely recognisable.

I know that pain! My L3 disk used to push a bulge on the root nerve it was so bad It numbed my toes slightly permanently and I could only sit or stand tor about 5 seconds! I tried…. Tramadol, Diazepam, amltryptyline, pro Ganga, gabba peptin, morpheme patches several nerve root blockers injected into the spine.
