A town near you perhaps

I need some advice as I really can't decide.

I'm a natural dark brunette but feeling a little bored with it. I have a hairdresser's appointment soon and debating if I should get highlights.

I've looked around at other ladies and correct me if I'm wrong but block colour seems more on trend than highlights at the moment.

I'm fancying auburn/copper/highlights or an ombre or balayage.

I have a party to go to tomorrow night with lots of vanilla friends I haven't seen in a while so I want to look nice.

Please help me decide.

Thanking you lovely people in advance.

Mrs

No. Leave it dark. Only go for the highlights when you’re hiding the grey

.

Balayage is beautiful, softer and more flattering, especially on brunette hair. It warms the skin tone and looks really lovely (but it has to be done well, no chunky blocks of it!). See if you can get a sort of cappuccino balayage done and then have a good blow dry with it lightly curled.

(I'm trying to decide on hair colours atm!)

I'd say balayage is definitely more on-trend than highlights. But do your research and ask to see the stylist's previous work before you decide. The technique seems to be quite tricky and there's nothing worse than a messed up balayage!

Thank you. I'm googling images. But they rarely turn out like the picture in my experience.

Make sure you Google how the options work with different hairstyles. For example a soft balayage looks gorgeous curled, as Meli mentioned, but if you want that kind of look you'll have to commit to curling your hair regularly.

I'm dark haired too! I got highlights and they last ages. i got caramel with slight light blonde tone i think awhile ago and still not faded! Lol Make sure you get a conditioner for coloured hair it makes them last longer and it brings the colour out.

Don't know the difference.

The one where the ends are a bright colour. Dark at the top and like purple or red on the ends.

It's easy to do yourself.

If your already booked in check they have time to do highlights first as it will be a bigger colour job than you think. Lifting coloured dark hair can be stubborn.

Ultimately do what you want because you like it n't because it's ‘on trend’
