Watching Countdown atm and if it wasn’t for Rachel Riley ( currently pregnant again) and Susie Dent it wouldn’t be worth watching. Who the hell thought Ann Robinson was a good host for this programme??

She looks like Where’s Wallys Granny!

But your reference of her in the op (and in fact of all 3 women) mentions nothing about presenting skills nor expertise in numbers/words. Only bringing up about Anne's looks.

Yeah I don't get why she got the gig either other than they just wanted a woman.

The previous two were not amazing I actually thought they were just about passable. But she's dire.

It's like she interrogates the people on it rather than having a chat with them. Richard just came across like everyone on the show was a personal friend of his. As if they were playing countdown anyway and someone turned up to film it.

This is the problem with giving famous people hosting jobs. The people who would make great hosts and then become a celeb never got a shot

Anne Robinson was a much respected journalist and has been a t.v. host on several quiz shows the most well known being 15 to 1.........

I can't deny that she comes across as ..........

Sandi Toksvig did 15 to one and is an excellent host. Anne did the weakest link and was terrible on that too.

Looks aside, there hasn't been a good Countdown host in year imo. Nick Hewer was especially dire.

I agree that if it weren't for Rachel and Susie I would stop watching - I just find Susie's Origin of Words too damn interesting

I have never seen the "proper" Countdown. I couldn't even begin to watch it after seeing the 8 out of 10 cats version!

I am not really a fan of Jimmy Carr, but he is acceptable on this (that stupid laugh!) But the delightful Suzi Dent and Rachel Riley, plus John Richardson and Sean Lock, brilliant! Naughty eye candy and very funny people.

I would love to listen to Susie's origins of words but she is so boring i lose the will to live after 5 seconds and if she didn;t always look so stunning and sexy it would be 1 second
