I've sent a lot of messages but barely get a response or if I do, some say they're interested but when you ask for a face pic or try to progress things further the conversation stops.

Well it seems you're limiting potential opportunities to meet people yourself, as often interest starts when you meet in person. I've made many friends etc that I wouldn't have had I not gone to the places where people are.

I liken it to wanting to see Slipknot play live. They ain't gonna turn up at my house and play in my living room just because I may have sent a tweet saying how much I wanted it. If I want to see them play, I gotta get a gig ticket.
