How competent are you at cooking?

I am horrendously bad. I can make a good cottage pie and that's it.

My husband is the cook in the house. He's happy to give anything and everything a try and experiment with flavours. I'll stick to washing his clothes and cleaning the house if he continues cooking.

Been with Debra for nearly 4 years. In that time she's cooked 5 meals. 4 were bacon sarnies... I love cooking and do it well so all good all round !

I'm pretty good, always manage to make a successful meal most nights. I don't need to follow recipes to make something delicious and I can pretty much cook anything without an issue. I would say I'm only average though. My food isn't anything special unless I really make an effort.

I can knock up a decent steak dauphinois potatoes, cauliflower cheese and veggies.

Pasta is my fav, spaghetti bolognaise pasta carbonara etc

I'm actually impressed with my cooking skills, Google has always been my freind, I genuinely enjoy cooking for someone and tend to make quite a bit of effort, I utterly hate cooking for just me tho.

I can't really follow a recipe unless I have to (like baking). I'm probably so so when it comes to cooking. I enjoy it, I like experimenting and learning about gastronomy as a little side hobby so yes, probably passable.

I enjoy cooking immensely which I think is the main thing. True, I've had my share of unmitigated disasters but to my knowledge I've never poisoned anyone...yet. I do the everyday family things like lasagne, chicken casserole, cottage pie etc really well though cause I've had YEARS of experience.

I'm a good cook.

I prefer food "jazz" as opposed to following recipes.

Recipes should be treated as guidelines rather than gospel.

It's why I'm a bad Baker

A dairy free creamy mushroom pasta with spinach and sprinkled nuts served with sourdough and some nice wine.

I don't experiment really with cooking, though I don't like following recipes so that could qualify as experimental

Yes I can poach an egg, love them.

I'm no chef but I have good knife skills, and I do really love cooking, I batch cook so every so often I'll spend a few hours doing a few dishes.

If I were doing a meal for someone I'd probably just do either teriyaki chicken or a roast dinner, and tarte tatin with ice cream. Nothing exciting but things I like and can do.

Up until a few years ago. I did the Christmas and Boxing day meals. This for up to eight people. Christmas day . Roast turkey around 15lb in weight. Boxing day roast beef. Cook two joints at same time. I do now have to cook for myself. As widower .

I'm pretty handy in the kitchen, I've successfully redesigned recipes to accommodate allergies for my partner, created a few recipes myself too, mostly baking but I really enjoy it.
