Swing shame

Recently I read an article on social media. It described a young married couple, the husband requested the wife sleep with other men. The wife at first declined but then indulged the husbands fantasy and enjoys it.

I read the comments, All were negative. This woman was called a slut, terrible wife etc and the husband a disgusting human being.

Has anyone experienced this kind of hate? We have only told two people what we do (for safety reasons) and they have been nothing but supportive. I thought in this day and age the lifestyle might be seen in a different light.

abruzzo Italy (and UK)

There’s maybe a number of things going on there. Yes, partly there is the moral brigade who think this lifestyle is inherently wrong and nothing would change their minds, but there will be those who feel ‘protesteth too much’ and maybe deep down wish they could be brave enough to try this. But also if it’s a public social media then people are displaying what they believe everyone to be an appropriate social response in case anyone who knows them sees their opinion and fear they would be judged for not condemning it.

People are different, what sounds "normal" and enjoyable to some, might sound bonkers to others. Don't expect everyone to be supportive...if it makes you happy then f what others think about it

You'll get negative comments on ANY online newspaper article. What goes on between consenting adults is their business, people can think what they want.

My experience is that most people who have negative views of the lifestyle are hypocrites.

They do worse to themselves and others and are also jealous that other people have the courage ro do what they secretly fantasise of doing

That's why we never mention it to people. Apart from its nobody else's business we don't seek their approval.

I haven't experienced it myself, but have often heard people being very judgemental of swinging or BDSM. I think such people need to voice their own opinions because they want the world to be simpler and just like they like it. They are micro control freaks, unfulfilled monarchs lording over a neighbourhood, an office, or a parish council. Very narrow minded and very opinionated little shits.

Societal pressure is a huge thing and many resent those that don’t follow the same path as themselves, which is externalised as anger and hate.

We know a few couples who swing. They've been seen on websites .....not fully dressed!! Disgusting.

People take the piss and say what a slut the wife is and the husband is a shit shag pushover.

People can be closed minded my normal response to the “slut” shameing is I flip it around on them

Here is a normal reaspons to it

Yes your right I am a slut and I am proud off it but hi at least we sluts have all the “fun”

It normally leaves them speechless with no come back in sight lol

I have to be honest, before i considered the idea and then started using fab, i thought the whole basis of swinging or meeting up with other couples / singles as a couple was odd.

After chatting to couples and gaining more of an understanding , i quickly realised that its probably gives a relationship a lot stronger bond and as said before, its others closed off mentality that is the issue - people don't like different!

Its obvious some couples have an increased enjoyment of each other and has made the relationship healthier.

Each to their own i say and do what makes you happy..

Welp that's why most people keep it a secret my best friend and a few choice family members know but we would never just talk about it in public it's still super taboo and looked down on but for us personally humans aren't supposed to be with just one sexual partner sex is fun sex can be passionate

The Town by The Cross

This is a hugely 'moral' society.

You MUST suppress your nature and accept the 'common sense' or be stoned.
