FabSwingers.com forum: Stepping Back to Move Forward

So I'm feeling a bit stagnant skill-wise in my current job and self learning isn't much use as I won't get to use it in a real life situation and although the pay and benefits are very good, I can't see my career progressing in the way I like.

I've been contacted by a recruiter about a role that's a bit less pay but seems to have a better pathway for me to progress further but I know the grass isn't always greener.

Has anyone taken a step back to move forward? Doesn't have to be in terms of career but anything else as well. Did it work out for you?
