It's not a great name, but it just represents those of us who have got kids and have more important stuff to focus on than getting gym fit.

It doesn't mean we have a beer gut or let ourselves go totally.

And it can apply to people without kids, as they can have a body like a dad.

I always thought dad bod as someone who is of stocky build, could be passed on as having a beer belly but not quite and definitely not slim....

Sorry but that wasn’t clear from your original question but now that it you’ve cleared it up it’s pretty simple really, everyone’s different. Just as some men prefer larger ladies, some ladies prefer men that aren’t all muscular, each to their own .

Well some are blessed by genetics and also have time for the gym… male or female.. it’s a different experience for all. Bodies are not a one size fits all.

Dad Bod, Mum Tum, Gym Fit, it’s all descriptors but doesn’t define the individual!

I suppose I have a dad bod,get to a certain age and it stays the same, regardless of how often I go to the gym, swim or run.

But I'm just me and that's all I can be

The range of what is a dad bod is quite wide

At one point everyone was saying Zac Efron had a dad bod despite the fact he had a clearly defined 4 pack and huge arms and shoulders

I’ve also seen guys with a belly but a physical job called a dad bod

So I wouldn’t worry about the definition. Women gonna like what women like.

I read and re-read what I’d written thinking did I come across as sarcastic or something? … but I was just making a playful comment about the term dad-bod and how it’s used … or so I thought

… I like the term … I like “dad bods” too - but I’ve still taken it off our profile in case it offends x

"Right then who wants to explain this "

Well women think a dad bod is a rugby player type of build, men think it’s a bloke with thin legs and a beer gut, here in lies the confusion.

Men: women do you like dad bods ?

Women; *thinking of rugby players* yes, love them!

Men: *thinking they mean blokes with thin legs and beer guts* Nice!

Well yeh … course … till I found out some may see the term as a bit mean (see 2/3 posts above - spindly legs and beer gut description lol)

I just thought it was an affectionate term for a man with a little padding - fit everywhere but with a cuddly chest and tum xxx

Dad-bod,

A bloke who lifts pies more than weights. Forms the basis of a human beanbag.

Often gets called a “fat f*ck” during heated arguments.

Exactly. Nothing to with having or not having kids or letting yourself go. It just means your a normal looking guy. Not everyone wants to look like a unatural gym freak. Looking normal is exactly that = normal
