Who watches MAFS?

I don’t usually watch trash TV but this show is my guilty pleasure. I find it fascinating and infuriating in equal measures.

I got hooked with the previous Aussie series and rolled on to this Brit one.

Who else watches?

Do you think any couple stand a chance in the long run?

And are the experts actually helping or stirring sh*t with their targeted questions at the dinner parties?

Lots of the drama seem to come from the group dynamics: do you think these couples would stand a better chance in isolation?

I'm watching, I'm invested now but I won't watch another series.

None of them will last the course, the "experts" are actually making things worse and encouraging people to stay in relationships that aren't doing them any good. It reminds me of the drama that immature teenagers generate around their relationships.

I’ve got bored with the UK one.. found the Aussie one way better..

Having said that I’ve got nowt to do this weekend so will prob catch up.

I like the psychology behind it and I think they generally pick blunt, outspoken, cocky people as half the stuff they say and comment on I never would have done with a long term partner let alone a total stranger..

But I guess it would be totally boring if everyone was timid & polite..

I actually find the women generally more objectionable & rude than the men.

I agree, the Aussie one was more entertaining. It feels like the production is running out of material because the entire is often summarise in a single 1h episode.

And yes, the people are certainly hand-picked to try and make “good” TV. Although I find it interesting how some of them seem to enter the experiment with very high hopes of finding true love (Alexis for example)

I think it’s the experts interest to keep people in: for their reputation and to keep the show going.

But for example when they asked couples to write an anonymous letter about another couple, that was really looking for trouble.

The previous series were better in my opinion. The couples didn't know each other and never interacted. There were no dinner parties or input from other couples. None of them lasted either. It was always one person more invested than the other much like it is with this current series.

Do they ever do a “one year later” catch up type of show? I haven’t seen one and I’d be curious to know what happened. You get attached to some of them. Either as couples or individually.

I think they did follow up the previous couples.

Yes there are definitely some who truly believe they will find true love.. but usually they are the ones who are quite damaged/broken and because of that it’s most unlikely..

New Aussie one starts next week I believe!

Yes, indeed. I have a dilemma: resist the urge and give it a miss altogether or let myself get sucked in again…
