Your phone number is a single point of failure - it could be used to login to social media platforms, Gmail, bank accounts etc. Yes you trust someone now. But what happens when it goes awry in six months? Or someone they know gets hold of it? It's a valuable piece of information. I don't give it away anymore.

Ie pay and go SIM card in a old phone that way if it gets posted about or anything I can ditch the SIM card without need to explain to family and such why I am changeing my number

Also it’s only really turned on when planing to meet other wise it sits off

That says more about your security settings on those devices than giving your number out…. Not sure where you are getting that information from…. If you use your number to log on it sends a text so unless you have the phone it’s not the case

Shit like this happens a lot. It's easy for people to say they give their number out if they haven't been stung.

I'm pretty carefree generally in life but some things you just gotta be careful with. Once I've met someone and we get on/there's a likelihood of repeated meets then yeah absolutely swap numbers.

Like I said above. Unless it's happened to you then it's not an issue. I've had to change my number in the past due to it being misused. Others on here have also had bad experiences giving their number out. Far safer to use another app until you meet someone.

I mean what's the worst someone can do with Kik or Snapchat apart from send you unsolicited dick pics?

I give my phone number out to those whom I think will use it wisely as I get very put off by needy texters. As an extra layer of security, I have a separate phone that only my tried and trusted fab friends have the number for. That one won’t find its way onto the Fab cubicle door

I've been contacted by couples asking for it in their opening message.

Nothing else in the messages except the words, facepic and phone number.

They may well have had 100+ veris but I'd never heard of them before those messages.

Likewise I've been given phonenumbers by women without requesting them but I've politely declined to return the favour.

If I've chatted long enough and am arranging to meet then and only then would I consider it.

This is why KIK and other apps are so important to people. It gives another way to communicate other than on sites.

You can block, but they still have your number. I’m sure it was on here, a woman have here number to someone, they fell out, so he gave it to all his mates.
