Anybody on here have alopecia, how long have you had it and where does it affect you?

I've had it a few years now, started on my beard, moved on to my head and now my eyebrows and eye lashes.

Just wondering if anyone else is living with it.

I had it on one eyebrow once. Just kinda slowly disappeared. Think it was stress or some shit. Came back after about ten years.

Has any of it come back at all?

La la land

I've had it but in clusters. I have patches in my hair. And for a while one hairy leg and labia and not the other.

My friend has it severely and has wigs for when it's really bad. And she's had her eyebrows tattooed so she doesn't have to worry about it anymore.

Shangri-La

I used to have amazing thick curly hair i hated but wish \i still had lol I got stress alopecia about 15 years ago. Id see my hair every where and in the end was even afraid to brush it. I didnt go bald but had some patches and it had thinned out so much. Some has grown back, but around my the back of my ears and ontop of the back of my head is still thin and is why I dont wear ponytails or anything that pulls the hair back as thats when they show rhe most. Seen you can get like a colouring crayon for your head to fill in the gaps...So most of my head then

How unlucky is that! First getting in, but at least could of had it both legs!

I know it was most annoying, and it just felt very weird too

I have it on my scalp, about 40% and unfortunately it's permanent. I just shave the rest off now. Mostly I go bald, it depends on what I'm wearing if it suits a baseball cap or beanie hat, I like the cooler months for hats.

It was devastating at first but now I don't care what people think if they don't like what they see they can turn away.

I noticed it starting about 13 years ago, I didn't realise how bad it was until a hairdresser showed me the back of my head. It sent me spiralling and within a year of trying to hide it I got rid and raised a few quid for Macmillan at the same time as my best friend has cancer. I can't remember my bald date but it's gotta be over 2 years. I've had SMP which was very painful but worth it, needs redoing again soon.

The ends of my eyebrows are gone. When I dress nicely I draw them in.

OP here... Thanks for sharing folks, my head currently looks like a patch work quilt, beard is now grey and I've got no eyebrows and eye lashes on only 1 eye.

A stark difference from my thick brown beard and hair I had a few years back.

As the poster above has said, sometimes you don't notice it when you can't see it i.e the back of your head.

I can't even resort to shaving my head because of how quick the rest grows back.

I run a man's rotary Shaver over mine every day, takes about 2 to 3 minutes
