My 13yr old son loves with me full time and visits his mum once every two weeks for a sleepover so times precious as you can imagine.

After chatting to a lady on here for a while we arranged a meeting at mine while my son was at his mums. Come the day and I was looking forward to the meeting and took him to his mums along with his bike.

The lady turned up and I’d cooked a nice meal, we sat down after and were getting to know each other when all of a sudden there’s a banging at the patio doors and stood there you guessed it my son!

Luckily we were still clothed and just chatting “I forgot my bike helmet dad”

His mum lives half an hour away and he’d biked it all the way back without phoning me! Needless to say he was tired and wanted a lift back so that screwed up the night with the moment well and truly gone

My ear hurt so much then with the who was that dad? Have you seen her long? What’s her name? Etc

Kids you’ve got to love them, well Iv got no choice as he’s too old to put up for adoption

At least he goes to his mum's once every two weeks. I am a widow with four children so never get the house to myself evenings or weekends.

Seems odd to cycle half an hour without a helmet to pick up a helmet !

I thought you were going to say he had forgotten his razor.

Don’t bank on it! My daughter moved back in with me recently , apparently it’s cheaper than renting in London, where “you have to pay for everything, even fucking water” ! It’s fun though we rate each other’s dates

That was brilliant OP. It's great your son was asking about her. That is a real moment of sharing with him. He's old enough to understand it.

Hi OP

We have my 14 year old living with us and he stays with his dad a few nights a week.

We dont host at home as he is very likely to come home for something as he is out and about.

Just start saving now. The older they get, the more expensive and larger the bailouts become! mine are 28 and 26...with houses, cars and expensive tastes
