" Generally marathon distance, I was hoping to take a place at London as people often pull out due to injury but they changed the ability to do that this year

"it's more complex than this, because, whilst increased muscle mass increases your base metabolic rate (the baseline energy needs of your body) as you get fitter you need to work harder to burn more calories. I will burn less calories doing 10k than some do doing 5k, because my muscles and system is trained and efficient at that kind of exercise. I would certainly suggest throwing away scales and try to measure calorie intake and consumption. For fat loss (notice no ref to weight) you need a calorie deficit, and you need to make your body burn energy reserves. " I haven’t seen the info to back that up, generally as people become fitter, their ability to work hard outpaces their bodies ability to adapt. So while you might burn less calories than someone less fit in a 5k due to increased efficiently, you’ll run the 5k much faster, so your calories burners per minute will be much higher. Kinda like how Olympic athletes, the most efficient in the world at their sports, still need to eat so much, because intensity always outpaces efficiency. Increases in muscle mass are a better example. An increased in muscle mass will lead to a constantly raised BMR as muscle mass is an active tissue that requires energy to maintain unlike fat mass

"No idea. I'm probably averagely for for a woman in her mid sixties. Although having said that compared to many of my peers I'm very fit but compared to Madonna I'm a slouch . My weight is stable (as long as my thyroid medication is correct) so I guess I'm eating the correct amount. " That is good going .

"I watched a fun video from coach greg https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=m5hjBXibTUQ The reason there are 4 categories is cos the more fit one is the more calories one burn in the same amount of time, that is why one cant eat the same kind of calories to expect the same kind of result, which category do you come in? I come in the fit category. I do weights, lots of cardio about 10000 hrs a week, about on average of 120min aday. Here are the 4 categories: Unfit: Doesnt do much Moderate active: 150min cardio a week Fit: Out jogging biking doing it often, every day. Superfit: Competitive marathon runners, more cardio than most. The 4th category superfit are burning the most calories of them all " I think I'm roughly on 2000 to try and slowly lose weight, I work 8 hours a day on my feet as well as cycle to and from work most days! But by no means fit, just trying to lose this extra weight from lockdown :P

"I do bootcamp/cardio 4 times a week for an hour a time, a PT session once a week for an hour and walking on top. I burn around 2000-2500 cals a day and eating around 1200-1400 cals a day. I can't loose weight even if my life depended on it. I have an underactive thyroid but am on medication. It's really getting me down." https://www.strongerbyscience.com/diet/ It’s a long article but probably the best one out there. Well worth the read and might give you some new ideas
