We are "only" £75.87 in credit, so we are in front and they actually owe us that amount with another monthly payment due soon .... fine.

But apparently, we need to pay them a one off payment of £142.32 AND increase our monthly direct debit by £50 per month to keep us even further ahead.

Like yeah.... of course we will

frankly, we would be happier with gas/electric bills like in the past, where they send you a bill for what you have used and then you pay that amount.

That's what I do just pay the bill every quarter it comes in x

You can change it back, or cancel the direct debit and just send a payment every month yourself.

Why are energy company's so shit at listening I always tell them what day they are getting paid and always get a fuck ton of phonecalls thebweek before payment so annoying

Yeh pay it when it`s due is better, I even wait till red letter day I know then, they aren`t taking advantage of me.

One company tried to land someone else`s bill on mine. I soon put a stop to that.

Same as mine when I check my online account. All automated based on estimated usage. Just leave it and let it balance out

Smart meters seem even worse, had no end of trouble with 'estimated' bills in my rental property?!?
