Wonder if it’s the same for a lot people in here , I’m on here everyday and usually for a few good hours , and always checking messages through the day , does it feel like you are addicted to it ?

Definitely. I come on here some days and I’m here for hours. Then constantly back and forth reading messages. I say to myself I’ll have a few days away but it doesn’t happen.

Research finds that, people are addicted to awaiting for messages and texts and pings and email drops more so now than ever before with the speed of tech!

People used to work all day waiting to get home for an email to have dropped to their inbox. Hopeing it was a picture, words, or even a date and a meetup.

This whole world is addictive tbh.

Reality & fiction = we all decide if we want to play or be played

Passed Beyond Reach

Different types of addiction. Top 3

It is the instant hit - go hard on the forums hours and hours (days) for a while but get nowhere, eventually get bored, loose interest and drop out.

Popularity addiction this is where the passive/aggression addiction comes in everyone is s threat and you have to put them down at every opportunity believing it is the only way to maintain your popularity addiction.

Long term addicts who need to feel a need for belonging, or need for attention., need for constant validation.

I’d like to talk to you about your addiction…

It varies. I can spend ages here some days or keep logging in and out. Other days I get fed up with it in seconds.

It's a theory ..... I still disagree with all of it.

To me those are types of usage....

Styles if you like.....

Demonstrable behaviours but not addiction.

"Definitely possible to get addicted. "

I agree. It's a behaviour. Once you keep indulging in that behaviour to the detriment of other aspects of your life then it is an addiction.

Detriment can be :-

not performing daily tasks,

not socialising,

staying up late,

spending too long seated,

soaking in the toxic conversations on here and becoming immersed in them.

Little exercise

Eating badly

Not paying attention to your bills , work etc....

There's probably more.

Probably the most important one I missed out is becoming emotionally attached in some way.

Being hurt by 'ethereal' people

Worrying about their life instead of yours. etc etc

It's damaging ...... very damaging

I can spend ages in the forums as I love the banter and diversity of topics.

I paid up for I don't know how many months. So far only had 1 solid contact. Not finding it so friendly to use. Guess I will just hang around and experience an adult site then happily and quietly vanish.
