I don't do Christmas.

I want to don't get me wrong, but I've worked all through for the last decade plus (apart from last year due to lockdown)

So I spend it resentful towards the people who do get to spend time with friends and family during the festive season. I spend it resentful towards those who come out to eat Xmas day, meaning I'm unable to see my own family and haven't seen them at Xmas for many years.

I live 150 miles from mine. We used to get together early December but that doesn't happen anymore. Our festive menu at work starts mid November so no holiday able to be booked from then on, and days off are changeable at short notice so no plans can be made. It's a write off other than Xmas day evening when I finish work about 7. 4 hours to get to my dads by train, they'll already be in bed by the time I got there

I saw the boxes/tins of chocolates out in the supermarkets already - I resisted and didn't buy any though.

No just the urge to make my own cake and if it is to be fed with brandy for 3 months it needed making so we can booze it up substantially

Yes - OP forgot to mention she was using a strange looking DeLorean to mix the cake. Suddenly she went too fast, there was a puff of smoke, a scorching fire trail and the rest is history.
