I jiggle when I run!

Hey guys, so, honest opinions here..

If you saw someone on run that wasn’t slim and jiggled as they ran past you, what would go through your head?

I’ve recently started running again (pre kids I loved it but stopped, worst decision ever!) but I’m by no means slim and workout gear is clingy. I’m not normally phased by others opinions of me but for some reason, I feel vulnerable when I’m running

I’m still gonna get myself out there but I’m curious what thoughts go through peoples heads!

Also, if anyone knows of a sports bra that actually anchors the ladies in place then let me know please! Cost not an issue! x

Don’t care what people think. I had someone shout out at me a few weeks ago, and it wasn’t flattering. My reply was “why don’t you try and keep up?”

You’re doing it for you, not to please anyone else. Just keep smiling.

Panache wired sports bras are the only ones that keep my boobs in place. Manage to jump on a trampoline without too much movement.

And get in, it's hard getting back into things after kids

I wouldn’t give this a second thought, your out there trying to feel better about yourself, exercise should be mind clearing and beneficial mentally and physically take absolutely no notice, we are woman our bits jiggle and that’s ok! Well done on getting back into it.

For sports bras I wear shock absorber ones or ones with a front fastening I find they help support me more, good luck and keep at it!

You also look great xx

They run a bit cup wise, recommended to go down one on boob or bust website.

I must admit when I was much younger I was an a.hole and scoffed in my head, but never made any conscious remark to the person or in their direction.

As I got older and wised up, I now think "Good on you for getting out there!" if I see someone who is making an effort.

Its tough to do - I have been there myself, but the rewards are immense. Please keep going and get your joy of running back and the associated feel good factor of knowing you can do many more things when you are fitter and lose some fo the unwanted pounds.

To be honest OP, if I saw you jiggling towards me I'd be trying hide the bulge in my pants - you have a beautiful, sexy body.

Also, you're out there doing your thing, you're not sat at home believing that the streets are for the exclusive use of gym gods and elite athletes, they are for everyone. Enjoy your jog-ling OP

Yep, same here. Honestly OP, fuck it if people do stare/make comments. You're working on you and it's such a mood booster. Sports bra wise I've had success with - Wolf and Whistle, Adidas and Panache. I sometimes double bra/tight crop top plus vest to minimize jiggle when I'm waddling.

Shock absorber gets a thumbs down here but that might be because of very ample bosom/breast shape. You might fare better.

When I was a young dickhead I may have had some shitty things go through my head when I saw someone 'not athletic' jogging or whatever - and looking back it's not something I'm proud of.

These days I'm either jealous that I don't have the motivation or more likely to cheer someone on (in my head, not gonna shout).

Good for you! We are conditioned to think that it’s not normal to have wobbly bits.

Alas, I have no such problem with my boobies. But I would appreciate seeing yours bounce past, possibly stare at them for too long, then people think I’m weird.

Reply privatelyReply in forumReply +quote

I'm sure her ladyship will be along shortly to comment a I know she is very conscious of this when running. I have learnt a new respect for ladies with larger boobs, I never knew that their bounce literally drives air out of your lungs - as if running isn't hard enough as it is.

To be honest OP, you're going to get a range of reactions, you've already had a comment on here about the jiggle being welcomed and yeah, there will be men who will take the chance to perve - if its any consolation I saw a woman nearly break her neck once trying to stare at me as I ran past.

There will be others who will judge you on your size/clothing choice.

Then there will be the ones who also exercise and they will simply see someone doing what they love.

Honestly, it really doesn't matter what others think, you run for you and not anyone else though I know that's easier said than done.

Good luck.

Mr

Seeing "bigger" people runs makes me happy to know they've got that confidence. I'm all about people being happy in their own bodies x

Another vote for Panache here, and I love that they're convertible between straight strap and racer back. I also bought one from Asda fairly recently, and it's almost as supportive as the Panache ones...only £9 too I've never liked Shock Absorbers, I just don't find them very supportive.

When I see anyone out running or exercising my immediate thought is fair play, whether they are super fit or running for the first time in years.

I hope you do not feel self conscious and just enjoy getting back to the running. It is difficult enough getting back into exercise after a long time away, without worrying what someone thinks. Enjoy it.

Well a couple of things..

Firstly to your question... I pretty much always think.. Bloody hell that's amazing, 'a' for making the effort and trying... Wish I had the fortitude to do that.

Secondly, I think you are being a bit self critical.. That's your right, but don't be so hard on yourself, you look great.

Thirdly if you're wearing stuff that makes you feel vulnerable... Perhaps wear stuff you feel more comfortable and less vulnerable in.

And lastly, it's a fact unfortunately women running on their own..... Hmmm maybe try and buddy up with someone...?

Good luck with it op.

There was a local guy... He was tall but he was very large.. So large he couldn't run, in fact he struggled walking so much he had a mobility scooter at times. ... I'd see him shuffling up and down the road... Over time the shuffle became a walk and then a brisk walk and then a jog... The jog became a run and over the course of about 2 years his entire body transformed... 5 years on I now see him out running and cycling... Hes an inspiration of what can happen and a big admirer of his... He was out rain or shine.

Completely agree. As someone who is reasonably fit myself, but goes through periods of better fitness and not quite so fit, the people I admire most out running are the ones who are unfit and are doing the hard yards. That’s when it’s hardest. When you’re really fit, going out for a 10km run is a piece of cake, really comfortable and easy.

Good luck to OP, keep at it, as you know from prior experience, it gets easier. Consistency is your friend, don’t push too hard and get injured, just slowly increase the volumes

I am a keen runner and when I see fellow runners either when I am running or when driving about in the car my thoughts are always of support towards them.

My family are used to me noticing a runner when we are out in the car and I call out "runner" in a lovely positive way. Its important to me that my kids see the positive efforts people make to be active.

I think of what pace they are doing and how far they are running but never to judge... always out of genuine interest and support.

I have occasionally seen runners out and as I am approaching them they may appear in distress (exhausted or stretching) I always check on them to make sure they are OK, as people have also done to me.

I used to be so super self conscious, too embarrassed about my appearance to run. Then years later when I started running I wore a jacket to cover myself up. Now I run for me, I don't care what I look like because I am working hard and completely in the zone. Its such a liberating feeling.

OP keep doing what you're doing, keep enjoying your running and soon enough the doubts and self consciousness goes away.

What goes through my mind is that the longest journey starts with a single step. As a self conscious person I know how it feels to think that you're drawing attention to yourself. I like running in winter so it's always dark but I get that it's not always ideal for everyone. As for the jiggle, well if you're already feeling self conscious I won't say what goes through my mind but it is highly complimentary!

Everyone is at different stages in their exercise/training regime.

When I go to the gym I don’t look at people lifting lesser weights than me and think bad of them - they could just want to tone up. Equally I don’t think people who lift more than me, think bad of me.

Exercise is there for everyone to enjoy and I’d just be pleased that you are trying to get fitter, if you ran past me.

I would think, 'Well done, go Girl!'.

I sprained my calf last year, so am getting back into running g slowly. I'm focusing on low impact stuff, and that's been great for getting my core fitness levels back. It's also helping with building a habit/routine again.

Just go easy, so you don't pick up any strains, would be my advice.

On a lighter note, What's the difference between a sewing machine, and a female jogger?

A sewing machine only has one bobbin!
