As the title says;

Which film soundtrack do you consider to be the best, for whatever reason?

Does it fit the film thematically, is it the most evocative, filled with great songs…?

Give your reasons please

Some classics already listed, but I'm going to shout out "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty", to pick up on your suggestion Tea, the music fits the film thematically, it's evocative and pulls on the heartstrings.

The Scene with Bowies 'Space Oddity' gets me every time, and there are other moments where the music makes it.

hidden location

The Lost Boys - didn't notice the songs so much in the film until I got the soundtrack but as an album in its own right its great

Gone in 60 Seconds - The songs are matched really well to the various elements of the film and compliment the scenes in which they appear

Pulp Fiction - Really alternative and forgotten tunes which are as vital to the film as the screenplay and script

Resevoir Dogs - Again, forgotten classic tunes and the idea to present them through the film as background because someone is listening to a radio station was inspired.

Streets of Fire bit of a cult movie so I doubt many on here would’ve seen it, but a soundtrack with artists and songs from Jim Steinman (famous for Bat out of Hell), Ry Cooder, Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks ‘Sorcerer’ Jimmy Iovine and Dan Hartman.

Tonight is what it means to be young, is an amazing song that just perfectly ends the film.

I’m going to go with Truman Show.

I watched a documentary on the making of recently and I found out that the score was written by two separate people with two briefs. One did the sections that we are supposed to be watching as viewers of the actual tv show and another who did the portions that we view as the movie of the tv show.

Never realised it until then but makes so much more sense now.

Most of mine have been posted on numerous threads as I tend to go down the Tarantino/Scoresse route.

I do think the Edward Scissorhands soundtrack is haunting and very Christmasy. Danny Elfman is a god amongst men.
