Geeks Assemble!

Simon Pegg (hallowed be his name) said “Being a geek is all about being honest about what you enjoy and not being afraid to demonstrate that affection. It means never having to play it cool about how much you like something. It’s basically a license to proudly emote on a somewhat childish level rather than behave like a supposed adult. Being a geek is extremely liberating.”

As we’re all proudly liberated folks here, this thread is for those geeks amongst us.

Shout your pride for your favourite fandoms and get chatting to the fellow geeks amongst us, even if it’s just fanboy/girl over the latest release or favourite moment.

There's a strong Sci-fi element here so, if I may, I'd like to broaden it.....

Progressive Rock

Anything with an engine

Railway architecture and infrastructure

Abandoned and derelict buildings, sires and things.

Another vote for Disc World and LOTR.

Also STEM stuff, in particular physics and engineering, the history of both is fascinating.

D&D mainly but I dabble in fantasy books, historical crime, cyberpunk and comics.

Is music geeky? If so then that, I'm obsessive about finding new music and old music that passed me by at the time.

I know it might sound like a cop out but I'm in to most geeky things and it's easier to say what I'm not into.... D&D, yup that's it.

Very much into my games, so video, board, miniatures stuff (I do love to paint em as it allows me to express my artist side).

Then of course for reading and media, you can't go wrong with marvel, DC, star wars, star trek, LotR, aliens, anime/manga, etc as long as it's done well, I'll enjoy watching or reading about it. Although that doesn't make me a blind fan, it sadly makes me super judgemental if it hasn't been done well, I'm looking at you Batman Vs Superman...

We have had a few of these geeky threads and there's usually loads of geeks on here. So kinda surprised no one's used one of these threads as an excuse to do a geeky social.

I think that we’re spread fairly far and wide. I do think that in the past a few people had socials at Comic-Con events though

Loved the Marvel comics but as guitar got more and more prevalent i just focussed on music - my only real passion can do it all day every day.

Well I think the op's quote said it best where being a geek is where you can openly admit the things you really like and not care about other people judging you.

Marvel, dc and other superheros. I'm currently in a comic book phase and I'm really enjoying the difference between the mcu and the comics.

Starwars and star trek and sci fi in general. I was once called rebel scum by a storm trooper at a starwars premier. They made me kneel with my hands behind my head. It was one of my life's great moments

LOTR, wheel of time, rift war cycle fantasy books.

Role playing Computer games, computers in general

D and D, Warhammer.

Bdsm. I often geek out about kink and its real sexy side. Consent, communication and respect ...

I'm overly passionate about cooking too.

The best part of being a geek is feeding off other people's energy. It raises us all up when we meet passionate people
