Is it the product, the quality or the salesman?

We tend to find it can be the best piece of kit in the world but the guy or gal selling it is useless.

So what would you do?

My reaseach deciding it is the best product for my job, fulfils my requirements.

Product first, if you want it you want it. Quality next, dont want it falling apart. I wouldnt take too much notice of the salesman as I either want it or not and wont really have my mind changed good or bad

We had this recently, knew what we wanted, called in 3 companies and gave them all the same brief.

No special offers, calls to their boss to sign off etc.

The first two were either deaf or couldn't think outside of their programming.

The 3rd took time to listen then the crucial clincher.

No deposit and you don't pay us until you are 100% happy.

Guess who got the order?

Always do your own independent research and then find whoever can give you the best price and guarantees on that exact product or service.

The sales person is mostly inconsequential, they'll never make me take their offer or service but they can quickly make me go elsewhere if they fuck up.

Normal do my own research and then choose what’s best for me

For instance

Tvs

So you have two TVs ones £800 and the other is £900

The one at £800 has a 120hz refresh rate and the one at £900 has a 60hz refresh rate

But the one at £900 has a better picture due to have a better panel and backlight arie

If I was by the tv to watch tv or movie primerly I would take the tv at £900 with the better picture quality

If I was bye the tv for gameing purpose I would take the cheaper tv at £800 as the refresh rate on the tv is faster

It’s all about wighting up your need as a consumer and knowing what you need a product for

Most of us buy so many things online now from Amazon and the like.

Personally I would check the product reviews from other buyers to see what they thought. Its often the best indicator if there are enough of them.

Worked in sales for years mostly selling a service rather than a particular product.

There were only 5 other companies in NI providing the same service at the time and within a year we outstripped the other 4 independents falling just short of the multinational.

Quality of service was the big selling point but the other companies helped by telling all their customers why they shouldn't deal with us rather than focusing on what they could do better.

The customers saw through their approach and we reaped the benefits.

Which is why you don't take user reviews as gospel, there are far more ways of doing your own research than what someone posts on the argos website.

Have you never checked the menu's in the background on any TV in Curry's? There is a showroom setting usually under a different name. Ask for the remote and then send the sales person on their merry way and turn that straight off.

You'll never ever use it at home in that mode, go online and check for base settings and set it to that as a starting point and remember you won't ever have your environment anything like the store with its lighting, positioning etc.

Every product has its own benefits and as you've said, what may seem better on paper (refresh rates) may not be the best for your needs.

100% agree the reviews I was talking about are for my tv

But I will give a honest review

After have the tv 2 years

I can say it’s hands down one off the best tvs you will ever set your eyes on for movies or for gameing

But the negatives out wight the positives

Tv will eat run up high electric bills it draws 350 watts from the wall

But you will save on heating bills as it will heat the whole rooms it’s sitting in

But you not be able to watch is much as the heat comeing from it becomes unbearable after 2-3 hours

I am someone who can be easily convinced my a sweet talking salesperson. I have bought insurances that I never needed

So nowadays I always say "I need to think about it" whether I like it or not. Then with that person out of the view, I will do my own research and decide.

Yep, 100 % with you there, the guy or gal who sees you but doesn't then come over and hassle you has far more chance.

We are in a sales driven business but would never pressure sell and have even been known to ask the client why they are looking when the system they currently have is adequate for their needs.

A male salesman has zero chance of changing my mind. Up until recently, I would have said a female one, would have no chance:

A couple of years ago, I'd made up my mind I was going to buy a Dyson ball vacuum. Ended up with a Shark lol.

I read review upon review look at the product feel the product speak to people with knowledge on the product.

I hate things breaking or just plain disappointing me. The worst was in jan i went to buy a sound bar and subwoofer, now im a 'audiophile' when it comes to audio, but being a soundbar for my television i was abit lost. So nipped to the usual places like currys ect and found that the salesmen had zero knowledge, they just read a description off a PDA

In the end went to 'richer sounds' a independent place and listened to afew tried them out read reveiws and bought one.

I think this is why i struggle to get into 'internet purchasing'

When naive and first few years of self employed I wasted a fair bit of money believing the rubbish those who rang you out the blue selling you advertising that guaranteed x amount of work none of it was ever worthwhile

Today, we don't advertise, don't have a website and don't use social media.

Our work is now 100% referral.

Easily the best sales.
