finally... we now have the answer to the age old question as to whether he is British or Scottish!!!

Well done Andy, first Brit winner of a Grand Slam for nearly 80 years!

David Weir??

Ellie Simmonds??

Sarah Storey??

Vicky Pendleton??

its gonna be the closest vote ever.

gonna be hard to do the shortlist of 10 let alone the winner...

well done AM too.

Yes the SPOTY will be the closest ever,my personal top3 would be-1-mo farah,2-bradley wiggins:3-andy murray, but then you have people like chris hoy, david weir+elly simmonds who would all be worthy winners,at least we definitely know it wont be john terry!!! Lol

Great result for Andy Murray, everyone is delighted in the First Win from a Brit player in 76 years. I'm now curious though as to when the last Scottish player won a Grand Slam prior to Andy Murray?

I have been doing a bit of research and can only find one other Scottish born tennis player Harold Mahoney, he was Born in Edinburgh but had Irish parents so played as an Irishman he won Wimbledon in 1896. I'm now wondering if Andy Murray is the first Scot to win a Tennis Grand Slam !
