Any advice for getting more messages and replies

Been here for a while now, changed my profile a lot, added photos, probably not as frequent as I should and send out loads of messages. Very few replies, some view my profile but no messages at all.

Anything I'm doing wrong is or it just perservence?

When you say you have a family, does that include a wife??

A lot of people have very little respect for cheats.

I don't usually reply when someone lives too far from me or I don't fancy the person.

I tried to be nice and used to reply to each message, but found that many men were so pushy.

I only message those local to me usually within 20 miles. Anything beyond I know might not get replies anyway.

No, have grown up kids who live with me. Wife no longer alive. Didn't want to put that detail on my profile.

I’d say a simple mention that you are a widower in the opening para would clear up any confusion without going into any detail.
