My mates are 99% ex mil… A compliment Is usually followed straight away with a put down.

My mate wears some really flowery shirts,

Occasionally I’ll say “nice shirt dude, does Noel Edmunds know you’ve borrowed it?”

Both ways usually illicit the response “dickhead” and a grin

I think it so sad that men don’t receive the frequency of compliments that women do.

I have a trans friend who was really saddened by his lack of attention when he began presenting as male.

It’s seems to be the norm to compliment women, so without additional reason to think otherwise, it’s just seen as it was intended. Women compliment each other constantly.

When a woman compliments a man, there is possibly an assumption that she’s done so as she’s attracted to him and it’s simply not the norm for men to constantly compliment each other.

This topic was inspired by the compliment I received this morning. I was very surprised, so I worked out the last time I got one before that: Twenty days ago. Two compliments in under three weeks! I feel very lucky.

I spent what feels like a lifetime feeling invisible but the last few years it's been amazing. I am SUCH a different person and I think this shows in the energy I put out and get back in compliments. I feel blessed to get them all the time these days.

This isn't about compliments related to what men *do*; it's about compliments based on how men *look*.
