Cheap Car Hire

Epsom

So stupid too good for it's own good S tonic gearbox has decided to throw a wobbly

Currently in garage being looked at no idea whats wrong AA Man thinks its a temp problem.

No idea how long will be in the garage for, so am thinking car hire to get to work. Looked at Enterprise 450 for a week!

Just wondering if anyone can suggest a cheap cars hire option, public transport will take me 2 hours to get to work!

It may be better to buy a cheap runaround and use that till your car is ready then sell it on. Otherwise I’ve heard sixt and zip car are good.

I'd ask if I could get a courtesy car with my insurance or from where I bought the car if its still under warranty

Use online comparison sites to see different options. However, having had to use a hire car while my equally stupid adapted gearbox was kaput, I can tell you there's few cheap options. I used Arnold Clark hire in the end, but my hire car needed to be automatic and have enough boot space for my wheelchair. In the old days, I'd have hired a manual Kia Picanto for a third of the price

Most insurance rules out breakdown due to mechanical failure for getting courtesy cars. Restricts only to repairs after an accident, theft or vandalism.

Just be mindful that due to a global worldwide shortage of semi conductor components it’s taking car manufactures 6 months to a year lead times on brand new cars/vans. This has affected car hire firms too as they are struggling to replace older fleet vehicles. Meaning they are running with fewer vehicles.

Daily rentals are the hardest to fulfil. So you might want to bear this in mind and factor in that it’ll probably cost more due to demand being so high
