....by a midge, how on earth do you get it to stop itching?

I have so many bites on me at the moment, they are driving me mad. I've taken antihistamines and used cream.

What else can I do?

Maybe I just need a damn good distraction.

What do you suggest? Cures or distractions welcome.

Oh, just noticed the 'many' bites. Ice cubes not feasible.

Which antihistamine have you taken ?

Can't remember the name of it, it did ease them but the warmth is making them worse, maybe I just need to lie in a bath of ice cubes

If it is not cured, the distraction won't work.

Also, depends how long have you taken medication for as it takes time to kick in.

And depends which formulae you have used: is it loratidine, chlorphenramine or fexofenidane?

Also calamine lotion might help sooth topically.

Definitely. I live by a mosquito infested marsh. It’s all about balancing the pH values

Zappit!!

Little electric zapper thing that gives you electric shocks....tiny little sting of a shock and then it stops itching

I have one of those electric shock thingies (small shock) or a very hit spoon seems to work too.

On a mooch

But a damp towel in the freezer and then drape or wrap around the area of bites, the coolness will help

I’m a nightmare for getting bitten, those little beasties just love me! I find putting neat vinegar on the bite helps to ease the itch! Even if you do smell like the local chippy

I've found smearing some soy sauce on the bite, hopping on your left leg for a minute and saying Chinese Water Deer five times perfectly cures it.

Put nail varnish on it. It stops the air from getting to the bite and making it itch. Thank

I believe someone has already mentioned mint.

I’ve been to some places where mosquitoes are prevalent. They use their fingernails to make a + (cross) on the spot and apply a mint ointment. I’ve never seen it here, I think it’s Japanese but you can try dabbing a little toothpaste on it and running that in.

I can’t say I’ve tried it but hey, if it works for the locals, who am I to doubt it.
