Guns n roses created a whole new sound of heavy metal.

Nirvana created a whole new sound.

Now I’m older I listen to GnR a whole lot more and mainly Appetite for Destruction.

I never got to see Nirvana live but I have see GnR live a few times. Although the last time I saw them at Download I thought it was about time Axl packed it in.

Nirvana - piece of piss to choose.

Massive musical talent. Genius. Stepping stone for Dave Grohl & Courtney Love. Without influnce from him would they be famous in their own right?

Kurt Cobain joined the "27 club" - sadly! At least he's in good company....

I like G'N'R's music but find Axl Rose an annoying ginger twat!!!! And he is. Oh, & by the way I'm ginger so I can call him that. "So ner-na-na-ner-ner!"

I saw G'N'R at Download. The best part of the show was (not just the end), but the crowd shouting out "we want slash." Wot the fuck was buckethead about???? Axl's voice was shot to shit - not impressed. Shite live band in my opinion.

So, "Come As You Are"; "Smells Like Teen Spirit"; "Heart-Shaped Box"; "Lithium."

I’ll have to pick Gun n Roses, though Nirvana is more my time, I found Smells like to be over played and everything else just ignored, to the point where I can’t stand it anymore. Song wise I’ll go with Patience.

I too was never a Nirvana Fan. There were some great songs, but they were just too miserable for my tastes.

GnR as a Commercial Rock group were much more to my liking, although I never liked all the swearing. Paradise City when it came out was a real attention grabber for a young teenager. Favourite song though would probably be - Don't Cry

Having said that, I much preferred BonJovi.

Favourite  Nirvana songs - on a plain, lounge act, sliver and all apologies (the unplugged in New York version)

It's easier to name the songs i don't like from Guns n roses' first four records, it's called My world, the last track on use your illusion II.

Gun to my head if I had to pick two favourite tracks of each album...nightrain, rocket queen, used to love her, you're crazy, dust n bones, coma, get in the ring, estranged and ain't it fun.

Chorlton cum Hardy

Guns n Roses were great with their raw sound in the 80s with Appetite for Destruction but then went too mainstream imho. I would never classify GNR as heavy metal though.

Nivana's Nevermind was the ultimate album at the time and very influential but the band was quite overrated after that, apart from Dave Grohl as it later turned out.

His voice isn't what it was but he puts on a good show. I saw them three times between 2017 - 2018 and he sounded well at the gig. Hearing Slash and Duff play songs they wrote many moons ago was great too.
