Boring thread alert:

I bought an indoor security camera to keep an eye on my dog when I’m out, I downloaded the app, followed it but the finally bit where you connect the camera to the router never connects, it says the camera is on 2.4GHz not 5Ghz which I think I’m on, has anyone else done or had problems with similar just wondering if there’s something obvious I’m missing, I’m with Sky if that makes a difference ?!

If its 2.4ghz it will only connect to that on your router. If you have a single channel router (some are default to this) you would need to set your router to show both channels on your WiFi and connect to the 2.4ghz wifi. I'm no IT expert but hopefully that sorts it...

It’s been in the pipeline for months, I’ve been honing it for the masses.

I’ve done this and it still doesn’t work, I’m very close to writing a scathing review on Amazon.

I'm disappointed you've not done a countdown each day.

Terra Firma

I remember having this problem a while back with a wifi booster...

If I remember correctly, I had to change my phone to 2.4Ghz to make a connection through the app to the hardware, this allowed setup to be completed and I then changed my phone back to 5GHZ.

How close to the router is your camera?

If it's quite close, try moving it further away. You may then find it drops the 5GHz (short distances) & tries to latch on to the 2.4GHz

I think that you will find that your router transmits on 2.4Ghz as well as 5Ghz, very few would not. I worked in IT for 25+ years.

Have you switched it off an on again? And hit the side of it shouting expletives?

That’s as far as my tech knowledge goes

I tried this, I connected the camera to an extension lead and walked to the bottom of the garden and it still didn’t work!

You're in Exeter mate. You'll be lucky to get tech to work there.

Make sure you don’t have a firewall blocking the connection, check that the router is set to dual channel etc, troubleshooting things without knowingly hardware and associated settings can be troublesome.
