Shortage !

My blood tests have been cancelled due to a nationwide blood bottle shortage.

My surgery has advised me to try again in a month and hopefully the NHS will have the situation under control …

Who knew there was such a thing

somewhere, someplace

I got a text from my surgery the other day saying there was a global shortage of blood test bottles so only urgent blood tests will be being booked in.

This is not good. A month is a long time to wait.

"I heard about it a week or two ago. UK facing the most acute shortages."

Driven by Brexit do you think?

Its meant to be a combination of things, increase demand for blood tests due to the pandemic, the HGV driver shortage as well as issues getting the raw materials.

We're now facing our water companies being given permission to legally dump raw sewage into our seas and rivers due to a shortage chemicals used to treat it. The waters off Hastings and further along the coast have been unsafe to swim in for some time. This is due apparently to a shortage of lorry drivers too.

And still they won't issue temporary visas to EU drivers.

Because this would be an open admission that brexit has totally fucked the country, and that the uk cannot function outside of europe. Also eu drivers are very likely to say "Temporary visas? Fuck off and die."

I don’t understand what the drivers shortage has to do with Brexit … Surely drivers coming from abroad can still come over and drop off their goods and the ones residing in the U.K. could easily apply for the right to remain … I say easily but it’s a little bit of a palaver, I’m a E.U national myself .

Speaking to a lorry driver, he said , and I don’t know if any of it is true, that 75% of drivers are over 50 years old and in 10 years there’ll be practically none left, that the cost of passing the test is prohibitive at around 6k and of course that wages are low. He also said concerning food shortage that the issue isn’t to get the goods to the supermarkets but to get it from the manufacturing plants / producers to the depots.

Being a foreigner, I was an anti Brexit , not from knowledge but because I’m a wimp and better the devil you know

I’m personally “happy” to pay more NI , compared to European countries with better health and social care, we in the U.K. contribute far less but I am surprised that the 350 Millions a week we’re no longer paying to the EU doesn’t cover the shortfall after all

Norfuck! / Lincolnshire

There is a nation shortage of a number of products across the Pharma / medical and food sectors

It’s due to European works who have left the uk which has severely depleted our workforce. pingdemic and the ability to actually get the products into the UK according to new Brexit restrictions

Has it anything to do with the production of these blood vials? Where are they made?

I've read the shortage of haulage drivers is due to covid infections in drivers. I don't know if any of it is true as I'm not sure of the truth anymore!
