Hitchiker

One of my previous jobs was delivering vehicles all over the country .I had to do a bit of hitchhiking and was lucky in some lifts .my question to you is have you ever picked up hitch hikers

I haven't seen anyone trying to hitchhike in years. We've all watched too many films about it I bet.

Having hitched all over europe & the uk when I was younger I always picked up hitchers - but rarely see them now & may be a bit more circumspect before stopping now.

If you were displaying trade plates, I would have been the first one to have stopped and picked you up. I've even gone out of my way to drop a trade plater off at a location where he was more likely to get a lift going nearer to where he had to get to because, I was always glad of a lift back when I was dropping cars off at auctions, or on the odd occasion that I had broken down and had to get back home and borrow a car transporter trailer, and find something with a ball hitch on it to recover the car.

Yep, I used to when I was a courier... on one occasion though, chap asked if he could smoke. Not an issue, I used to smoke like a chimney when driving so if course said yes... issue being was what he smoked! He'd already rolled it so I had no idea, until he filed the cab with the smoke from his joint

A few years ago I picked up a stranded wedding party on the way to the church after the brides old fashioned car broke down!!

I have thankfully been given four lifts in the last couple of years from hitching twice in parts of Scotland and twice in the Lakes. People are not as giving of themselves these days with all the fear porn they’ve been fed throughout their lives. But there’s always some who put the action in of caring for others.

I can't drive but I used to hitch hike all the time when I was younger. One time I was trying to get to the U.S border in a car that had huge holes in the bottom so you could see the road beneath. The guy riding shot gun had a bucket of beer. We crashed twice but made it to the border. I had many memorable hitches and no bad ones. Those huge HGV are awesome.
