Newcastle and Gateshead

…. Bit niche this one

Just asking cause I basically can’t go out my house for 2 hrs on Friday afternoon because the stage of the tour of Britain cycling race is wizzing past my gaff!!!!

So you had anything good event very close to you?

( this would be the 2nd best for me because I don’t think many would be able to top number 1…. And I don’t want to kill the thread! Lol)

I had the Tour De France and the 2012 Olympic Torch go by a couple of streets away.

Damn… Olympic torch route literally went 20 feet from my house…. It was mental being able to take pictures from my bedroom window!

I mean there was that roadblock and standoff with the RUC right outside my house when I was a child.

Wirral

2018 there were some giant puppets visiting Liverpool. One of them was on Wirral, walked up to my flats, had a little nap in front of them, then walked back to the beach.

I was a bit mardy about it because of all the road closures and disruption - I had to book a day off work because I couldn't see how I would get out of the flats on the day. It turned out to be completely amazing and I'm so glad I had such a fantastic view of it and didn't have to cram into the huge crowd of people on the road. It really was a spectacular thing!

On a mooch

Marathon, Triathlon every year.

Best though, for me, was sat on my balcony watching & listening to Les Miserables being filmed.

Worthing

Used to have the "Bird Man" contest. People in fun costumes jumping off the pier then more serious ones, competing for a distance prize.

When Italy won the Euros.

St George's Square was bouncing!

So ironic it was in a square named after the patron saint of England

Near Wells

In a previous house I had both the Olympic torch and the Tour of Britain cycle race down my street.

Could also hear Glastonbury festival.

Now I live in a small village where absolutely nothing happens, apart from fab meets at my place.
